based on this post that they couldnt unlock by code and i seen a lot of companys say they cant do the palm pre gsm on O2.

the only difference is that the link that i posted is a uk company who mentions they can unlock a O2 network gsm palm pre. and i called to confrim if they do.

this is on my list of things to do and try before the next update

already tried them and find them unreliable
i thought i give it a try and ordered Palm Pre unlock code for 19.99bp
what happened they give me iphone unlock software eventhough i clearly ordered palm pre as stated on my order form.

i have complained and they replied they will look into it but sofar no answer since.

    fishy ...

Same situation - iphone (the one that's free) unlocker for 29 USD...
Although the order was made from the PRE page.

Will try to kick the money out of them...

I dont think theres any unlock service yet for the Pre.

Nearest thing to a Pre unlock is this thread.

Seems the man made but... not a commercial solution.
I think the post with this online Pre unlocking must be deleted as scam!

The nearest thing at this point is a rebelsim and a modem downgrade. Not very elegant nor everlasting, but we should get used to the fact that every time we find a backdoor, Palm smashes it shut in our face.
maxrfon says he will give his method to someone else to commercialise so I think it will eventually become available. This is the only prospect of a permanent unlock on the horizon.
I agree, Palm could make the Rebel method totally unworkable in the next release if they really wanted to.

I also tried this site originally, has a very bad experience:

Ordered pre unlock. Within 15 mins i had an email off them saying payment had been rejected - but had an email off Nochex saying payment was successful. hmmm. In the "rejected payment" email, they requested that I make another payment using something other than Nochex. Anyway, after questioning Nochex, it turned out that my payment had 100% gone through to anyphoneunlock/iphoneunlockUK. Seems like a scam to me.

For everyone waiting on a refund, don't bother phoning them as they NEVER answer the phones. The only way i managed it was by going over to their iphoneunlockuk website, going on the 'live help' thing and telling them if they don't refund me or provide me with an unlock code within 12 hrs i'd be reporting them to trading standards etc. Within 2 mins I had a refund from Nochex - So i guess there is no real unlock code at all.

It's worth noting too that this company made a name for itself selling the iphone unlock software which was released as freeware by the dev team. So basically stealing software and selling it on. Total scam artists.

If Pre comes to Vodafone as was reported here a while back, O2 at least would have to unlock, as their reason for not doing it is purely exclusivity.

Even then, O2 are perfectly within their rights to withhold the unlock codes. They are under no obligation to hand them out. Also, Vodafone are expected to receive the plus variants, so not technically the same phone. All of this will still be of no use to those of us that purchased our phones from ebay.

As for maxrfon, I call BS.

Sorry to be a pest, but this guy (maxrfon) is a well known hacker in the undeground gsm world, so i would not call it bs. I use his solutions from the early 2000, starting from Ericsson phones, siemens, motorola, SE, sony, nokia.. as far as i know he was the first to unlock blackberry via the bongowireless and who knows what else, but in the past we used to get the unlocking solutions from him while nobody else in the world had it, but one bs was always there: he never share the solutions for free

Actually Movistar Spain units can be unlocked, there has been reports of those being unlocked via IMEI. There's another thread about this.

I'm willing to give this guy a try, but he's a wholesaler and only sells in bulk.

    UnlockBase.com - Palm One Pre

Minimum purchase is 50 credits on first purchase.
Palm IIIc -> Sony CLIÉ T650C -> Sony TJ-37 -> Palm TX -> Palm Centro -> Palm Pre Bell -> Palm Pre Plus Bell/Verizon Hybrid -> HP Veer -> HP Pre 3 NA -> BlackBerry Classic -> BlackBerry Priv

It's a Late Goodbye, such a Late Goodbye.

    Don't do it Toni.

Look closely at this Palm Pre page. He lists all kinds of carriers and charges different prices. The issue I have with this operation is, the Palm Pre device was not released on 90% of those carriers so it is misleading to have the carriers listed. Consumers can be confused and purchase an unlock code for AT&T thinking that because they are wanting to use the device for AT&T that it will work on the Pre they are attempting to unlock.

Reputable unlockers only list the carriers that a particular device has been released by on it's device page to avoid confusion and to avoid having to issue a refund.

    Just my two cents.

Google may well verify your credentials, but I am not satisfied with the video. I'm a skeptic, and probably will never be satisfied until the unlock is made public.

Well I was really just referring to the fact they have codes for Movistar and might have AT&T. The service they use is a database based, and will refund if code isn't found.

Some of their stuff may be confusing, as it's meant for wholesale, but these guys did manage to get factory unlock codes for Sony Ericsson units, which is required for Fido phones, as they have two locks, SP and NCK.

He also clearly states that Telcel units can't be unlocked. Apparently Telcel deliberately destroys the GDFS (i.e. the unlock code count) so the units are hard locked, that's why it's so hard to get Telcel codes.

So I guess he's reputable to some extent, my two cents.

I am on O2 UK and have just asked them unlock/unlatch my Pre, they sent me an email saying it has been requested and I should have the code within the next 14 days.

    Heres hoping.
