I think that's it what logic is telling me.
SO what do I have to do to get my Pre unlocked by O2 then?

You could open a ticket at Nextgen Server and work on a solution..
You should at least get you're money back, if you can't get it to work.

I'm still working on it tomi666, I am looking for a modified 02 webos doctor to doctor my pre with, then I will update to a newer one, which by then my pre will have an original firmware right? And try to unlock then.

I have just today received my Pre back from Palm (it needed to be repaired after a failed modem flash) and so am now going to be going through the unlocking process (finally). Incidentally, the quality control people at Palm must be slacking - my slider came back to me totally borked, making sticking noises and needing a lot more force to open. This was because of an incorrectly placed sticker (that sticker with the battery tab and IMEI details on it) which I've had to remove. Poor.

Anyway, I'm in Australia but was able to get my Pre activated with my UK profile back on O2, so that's lucky. Unfortunately, my Paypal transaction has apparently been 'flagged for security' and needs to be reviewed by NextGen before I get my login details. I assume this means I have to wait at least another 7 or 8 hours till I can begin unlocking, which is irritating.

How's that for a post with a lot of complaints? I'm really just excited to get this process going and unlock my phone!

Now using a fully unlocked Palm Pre here in Australia. Wasn't the simple, smooth process I wanted it to be because, initially my PC didn't want to install the diag drivers. However, using what was covered in the manual, what had been posted in this thread and the passthrough keygen included with the unlocker, I got over that little speed hump and about 30 seconds later I had my unlock code.

Seriously thrilled right now, particularly as someone who had their phone bricked by trying to migrate that castle file as part of the Rebel SIM 'solution'. Thanks to Max and to NextGen for a seriously great product.

ok, I've unlocked my UK O2 Pre (quite straight forward once I'd got a 16bit machine!). It's now on Vodafone and upgraded to 1.4.1 (I think, ran the latest webdoctor). As a result of some IM madness and wanting a clean start, I decided to get a new profile. Since then I have lost all the paid Apps - I've had them, they're just missing now.

I've scoured the forums, I'm sure somebody will tell me that I've not scoured hard enough! Is this a 1.4.1 problem or are they gone for good?

That HTC Desire is looking mighty tempting - c'mon Palm, I've money burning a hole in my pocket, don'tcha want it?!!

I've successfuly unlocked my Pre but I'm having problems accessing the usb passthrough menu. I've tried the combinations ##8727277# and the #*#8727277# and none of them worked. Any thoughts ?

After struggling for 1 month with RSC, 1.4.1 and no 3G on Optus (Australia), I gave in and bought the NextGenServer Unlock (A$42). After reflashing original FW, activating etc., I finally got the unlock to work after 3 attempts.
It works really well !! 3G works on Optus, and no probs (so far).
Very happy with outcome, although it did take a number of attempts to get past the "Error, please repeat or contact your reseller" error. Clearer instructions, particularly for RSC users would be helpful.

No, give them some time to reply. They don't work 24 hours a day.
