Good job JIC Tech on finding an alternative solution, its hard to code a program that will do what this software does I couldn't do it.

You should all know I've only had my Pre less then a month, and its my first Palm device. Defected from Sony Ericsson when I ran out of options for my old P1i, the Pre and WebOS are much better.

This option did not work for me at this time, later in this process if no other option can be found I may come back to it. Once all the bugs are worked out, and if possible Windows x64 support is added.

It is possible for me to admit my own faults, sometimes the fault is between the keyboard and chair after all
Sorry on behalf of all of us who said "RTFM". Thanks for your post.
If you would live anyway near, I would gladly help you unlock it in person.

    Update:

The nextgenserver did manage to contact me today. They said they were not sure why the client was corrupting the data as seen in my screenshot. But they were kind enough to send me a log of their server with network unlock code and voila !!!! It didn't work !!!

That is because they sent me the log of someone else's IMEI .... hahahahha

BTW did you try to force DIAG mode by using the calculator and following the opposite steps to enable DIAG mode ?

    Hello

Look, you looks to be a smart man, if the software give you the code to enter in the unlock screen then how can the software be blamed after you entered the code and got no error?

Please think, that many people who understand what's going on, reading your post. The problem is not with the software at all, but with your PALM Cell database!
We give you the code, you enter it - voila, our task finished. If you have pucked your pre's filesystem - we are not guilty for that. Use webOSdoctor and get your phone working.
Finally they fixed Firefox to open new tabs next to the active tab LOL!

No, but don't think that was my issue.

The "webos20090606" and "upupdowndownleftrightleftrightbastart" let me in to the "developer mode" menu to turn it on, unless DIAG mode is something else that I don't know about?.

I did ask what the difference between "developer mode" and "DIAG mode" was to Nextgen support, but never got an answer.

Anyone care to enlighten me please?.

Before to post here a complain i would ask you to do the following:

1 - Tell us how was the installation process, and was the PC rebooted after the isntallation.

1.a - Did you reboot phone after enabling developer mode?

2 - What is happening when you press "Do i need novacom?"

3 - When you press Unlock button do you have the "new hardware.." sound in pc speakers or any new devices in your device manager?

4 - Did you replug the phone after new drivers were installed, or rebooted the PC?

Any other complaints will be regarded as provocative and flooding and will be removed

PS. For the blank code issue - one question: why the strings appear good and codes not, if both, the codes and strings, are sent from server...

Developer mode and DIAG mode are different. (Both need to be enabled)

developer mode is enabled by pressing upupdowndownleftrightleftrightbastart at main menu window. Restart when it asks you to.

    Enable DIAG mode :
    1. On your Palm Pre go to ‘Device Info’, write down the 12 digit serial number (please remember it is case
    Sensitive)
    2. Enter the serial number into the calculator “START > NEXTGEN SERVER > PALM PRE > Pre Pass Through Keygen”
    3. Enter on the phone keypad screen #*8727277# and press call
    4. This will bring up the ‘usb config dialog’
    5. Enter the code from the ‘Pre Pass Through Keygen’ and click ‘validate’
    6. Then set one of the ports to ‘DIAG’ (I don't know which but it should be amongst the 4 options) make sure its ticked.

Then you will be prompted to install DIAG drivers in XP

Then you can proceed to unlock.

    2. Message Novacom was found on your system
    3. Yes and proceeded to install 2 drivers and installed them successfully
    4. Yes and restarted the PC as well. Then again went through all the steps.

I am facing blank codes issue and have no clue why is it happeneing

Was your pre affected with any thirdparty softwares/patches?

Now you see this is not in the 3 PDF's that Nextgen sent me, it said to enter "webos200906062", restart phone, connect to PC install Palm drivers, then install the DIAG drivers. This is the step where it went wrong for me, no prompt to install DIAG drivers at all.

I may just give this another go tonight, anything else I should know?.

    Hello
Nextgen support does care of supporting the software, but not to answer questions and give interview. People are busy with work and they can't leave it all and start answering such a question.
For that - this forum exists.
If you have problem with your software - please read the post above and fill your request with the answers for the questions and from this point the support can work.

Topics like - It does not work, or i can't make it work return my money, or you promised it wil be fast as 3 seconds and it's not so - are not accepted.
~3 seconds it takes to get the code from server in case all the prerequerements are done.

There is nothing hard to follow simple instructions like 1 2 3 4 done.
If you do so - then there should be no problem and most users in this thread accepted it even after having posted "It does not work!" before.

So it works, it works good and in case your phone was not affected by any customised firwmware/patch. It's proved!

So stop mumbling please and get serious. Don't shame yourselves.

    Thank you

1 - client install went okay, done reboot.

    1.a - yes I did.

2 - okay there, novacom found.

3 - no "new hardware.." found, no option to install anything new.

4 - not sure what you mean, after option 3 above or after the Palm drivers are installed?.

    I mean after option 3.

So if at your side the process does not go any further then i doubt you have enabled the developer mode.
Enable the developer mode and then continue. To be sure if it's enabled - check your device manager when the phone is connected, it should have Palm Novacom Module.

My Pre was in developer mode, and yes the Novacom Module is lit up in device manager when the phone is connected to the PC with the Palm USB cable.

Have you been running any modifications/patches to your Pre?
After you press Unlock software requests some data and forces the WebOS run into Diag mode, therefore you get new hardware installed dialog. If that does not happen then your WebOS is not functioning well and i would suggest you to fix this issue first, before you proceed to the unlocking. As for all the rest users it works exactly by the scheme the software expects it to, so your phone can't be different and that error means something more.

NO modifications or patches, fresh out of the box from O2 UK.

Yeah I saw this software earlier on, I've not used it yet.

There is this and one other thing to try, I'll see how it goes and post the results later.

    Thanks
