I was one of those folks that was disappointed docs2go wasn't ready at launch and will be delayed in 2010. The funny thing about time and ingenuity is you tend to come up with alternatives. I don't believe at this point docs2go will be free which in my opinion would be a big mistake. I've been using a combination of evernote/memos/google docs. I type quick ideas to memo. If it's worth saving I'll copy to evernote (for editing) and google docs. Too bad google docs is currently view only. Otherwise I would just use that service. Knowing google it will be ready end of year. By that time docs2go will be ready. But who would pay for something that is for free. Google docs will replace docs2go as the office suite of mobile phones. Same way they are making Microsoft change their office approach

I'd pay for d2g over using google docs. I can imagine having some documents that I don't want pushed to the cloud.

I don't want google to have all my info. Google=Evil in my book. I'll buy a docs app from whoever makes the first good one for the Pre.

Need a Word editor for the Pre, be it Docs to Go or something else.

Gotta agree with the other two. I don't mind having some stuff on somebody else's server, but I'm more than willing to pay for a program that lets me keep sensitive stuff private and local.

i think id have to go with Docs 2 Go or another non-cloud based app because i dont think i would want my work docs to show up on the web.... if I didnt work in a casino i wouldnt care ....... but if Washington State found out i put docs on the web, oh man, talk about deep ****, plus lots of fines.

And I just learned that in the Memos pull down menu, you can email the memo, so I back them up by emailing them to myself.

google docs only indexes documents already linked to from a publicly crawled webpage

I'm in the process of POSSIBLY creating an app which works as an effective doc editer and saves to your phone and can be transferred between your phone and the comp via email. Anyone interested?

I could care less about google docs. D2G will be irrelevant when Microsoft Office is irrelevant, which isn't going to happen. As far as keeping data in the cloud its stupid and a disaster waiting to happen. The whole cloud paradigm will die a nasty death.

Not-so-patiently waiting for the release of DTG. If you haven't done so already, visit the DataViz website here, and sign up for the WebOS DTG notification list.

Already done it, don't know if signing up multiple times would be of any merit.

All I know is I hate the nonspecific "early 2010" mumbo-jumbo. As far as I'm concerned, early 2010 is pretty much over already.

I'm also waiting for DocsToGo or equivalent. Since DocsToGo is dragging their feet, I believe this is a GREAT opportunity for a new player to make a huge splash on the scene.

Chances are that the first company to make a half-way decent equivalent will get my money.

Reality check: Documents-To-Go will be neither free, nor cheap. So if you're expecting that, time to start looking at alternatives.

Unlike those lame fart "apps", something like Documents-To-Go requires actual talent..for which the developers rightfully expect to be compensated. They have families to feed.

Its entirely possible that the Docs-2-Go people see people here whining about quality applications and products costing two or three bucks and wonder if there's really money in the WebOS market. Expect it to cost about the same as it does for other environments now.

And btw, it was never free. It was like airline meals, i.e. included in the purchase price.
