Well, after the 5th install and re-boot, the MyTether icon showed up. Then I turned on USBnet, and now it is restarting again. Maybe I'm making progress. Everyone say a prayer for me... Film at 11

It should work on a Verizon device as well, however I am on Sprint, can any Verizon users verify?

ironically_ I can't see the 'thank' buttin when reading this with the PreCentral app - as I am doing now. I'll definitely do it when I am in front of my pc!

EDIT: I used a PC and hit the thanks button. I really appreciate the help!

Hey guys I have the new mytether installer, but when I try to install it I get this error

"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. They system cannot find the file specified."

Does anyone know how to fix this?

    EDIT:

I resolved the 'unhandled' problem by deleting the sdk and reinstalling it. I got MyTether 2.1.0 installed but now when I enable the wifi connection I do not detect the wifi connection on any device. I know I read a solution to this a while a go, but I can't seem to find it. Anyone have an idea?

I remember reading something about changing the name and password for the wifi connection from mytether causing issues about not being able to detect it. I can't seem to find any of that now.

Also here is something interesting. When I first ran 2.1.0 it said I had to unpatch my phone. Before 2.1.0 I was using the patching version of mytether and to get rid of all of the stuff it left behind I did a full erase and I doctored my phone. I guess even after all of that the patching was still left because 2.1.0 prompted me to unpatch.

    Final Edit :-)

Okay guys look how stupid this is. So I went under options in mytether and I noticed the "Name" and "Key" were the same as I set for the older version of mytether that I was using before I did a full erase and doctored my phone. Clearly some information carried over after that entire rest process. My Key was set to my 5 digit password but in this version it has to be a min of 8 characters. So I changed my Key to 8 characters and surprise surprise mytether showed up in my wireless networks :-). I connected and everything is working perfectly. I am actually writing this update from tethering. :-).
    Thanks

Actually, the update bug was one of the very few things shown on the non-member forum on their site. You do have to uninstall and reset the phone to upgrade, since it went to an installer. I didn't look too hard at that, since I don't have the program yet.

No time right now, I'll snag it later on this afternoon.

Oh, car math guy? My first 240DL wagon is still on the road, hitting near 400k miles with nothing but routine maintenance and the occasional blown part. Let's not forget cost of maintenance in there, too. My bro in law dropped nearly 5k on his 12k that lasted 80k miles, the guy that bought my wagon showed me the logbook. 400k miles, 3k on parts. Bingo. Darn good reason for buying the car I did, I'd say. He spent nearly half the cost of his car just on repairs.

Now, can we please stop arguing that point? I simply wanted to know if a) had people here bought the software and actually gotten it, b) did it work c) how was support in the part of the site you can't see? Good Lord, I can see support for 99% of all the other products on the market, including the Pre, without buying first.

Again, thanks for the feedback. Now I know a couple of things to look out for.

If you paid the "donation" of $15, then you should have access to the "donors only" portion of the forums om mytether.

Anyone who posts the links or shares the software should be banned. Like it or not, it is Aonic property, and closed to re-distribution. Plus you are undermining all of us who actually paid the $15, so the software can be further improved.

All I will say is that Sprint reps have been known to say lots of things. Not all of them seem to be fact. While not impossible, I doubt an in store rep would have the inside track on that sort of thing. It would be a vast reversal of general Sprint policy against tethering.

Yes and no. My WinMo 800w had ICS included, enabled and working. You're just cautioned against using it.

I would imagine they would, they're having a hard time explaining why you pay for unlimited data on your plan, but have to pay extra to plug a cable into your netbook in the airport. If they do start allowing it, I'd fully expect the "unlimited data" part to wind up with a cap, similar to the current mobile broadband plan, or home based broadband companies like Comcast with a 250GB cap.

Well, most Sprint reps I've encountered at stores couldn't find their own rear end with both hands.

We're currently at version 1.4.0, I seriously doubt that a Sprint rep would have any clue what's in store for a 2.x update, but if Sprint does reverse their policy on tethering, it would be a welcome surprise.

I skipped all of the bickering about price and cars ... and whatever.

I like My Tether. I use it rarely. In the last month I've used it once. And I'd say that's a bit more than average.

I liked the way it worked in WebOS 1.1 and 1.2 better than how it works now. It was faster then. But the way it works now is a metric ton better than how it worked in 1.3.

Thanks for the Verizon update! I'm going to be getting my pre plus in April and am contemplating getting this app.

Yeah, I only have one particular situation where I'll use it regularly. I get to the appointment early, but I'm seeing a specialist that often winds up spending more time with patients than scheduled, so its entirely possible I'll get there a half hour early, planning for traffic, and wind up seeing him a half hour or so late. Hour to kill, tiny screen.......meh. Gimme my lappie.

I just use the free MyTether and it works great. Don't see the point in "donating".
