After falling for a STUPID trick virus (.scr file given a folder icon.) I was forced to reformat my PC, and in the process lost about 2GB of music that (luckily) was sync'd to my pre via itunes. I've managed to extract the mp3 files back from the pre via USB drive mode and viewing hidden folders, the only problem is that now all of my music is randomly sorted into 50 folders; F00 through F49 and all of my songs are renamed to 4 random letters!!!

Is there any way to fix this?

Are the ID Tags still on the files? If so, there are some freeware programs you can use to batch rename your files according to the meta info embedded into the files.

Try this, it's called Easy CD-DA Extractor. It allows you to edit all the song data and also the album art if that got wiped out. It also rips music from CDs, burns CDs, and converts file types. It came on my laptop when I bought it. Looks like it's $37 to buy, but you get a 30 day free trial.
