I download the .rar file for Palm Pre Sprint users and it's just a bunch of files and folders. My old WebOSDoctor isn't working or I'd use that and just upgrade from there.

Where is the executable program? Am I missing something? The old Doctor needed an install if I remember correctly.

its a JAR file. Run it directly do not extract the jar

I download it, WinRAR pops up, there are no other options.

I saved the file to my desktop and double click on it... it's definitely a .rar file or a .zip.

no installation needed. just make sure that the file you downloaded has .jar as the file extention and that you have java 1.6 installed and double click it.

change the file extension type from .rar to .jar and see what happens

The source is a .jar program, but it switches to a .zip when I download it. Why would this happen?

as a .zip you can view the contents of the file and extract if needed. to run it you simply need to change the .zip extension to .jar

IE 8 did the same thing to me and listed it as 3 folder that I needed to extract which was the first time I've had this problem. Google Chrome worked fine for me though.

Downloaded 1.4 doctor this morning with no problems using firefox.

Are you sure you don't have winrar set to open .jar files by default ?

Open winrar and got to options then settings, click on the intergration tab and make sure JAR is unticked.

In IE, you need to right click the file name and select Save Target As. It will then download as a .jar. If you just left click, it will download as .zip.

    Not sure about Firefox.

No, that didn't work for me. It still downloaded as a .zip.

I even tried renaming it and that didn't work.

Why would it download as a .zip in the first place?

    Should I just try firefox?

Trying Google Chrome right now to see if that helps.

Okay, the Chrome worked as it downloaded the file correctly.

    Thanks for everyone's help.
