just bought a pre yesterday and updated to 1.4. Curious as to why I can't seem to be able to preview my ringtones? I could just be dumb but did anyone else experience this or know how to fix? Not a big deal just curious

i was puzzled by this as well; turns out you need to increase the media volume not alerts volume

my volume is on full and I can hear it when I receive a call. It just won't preview when I touch the play button

I'm having the same issue as you. I bought my Pre yesterday, updated to 1.4 and now I can't sample ringtones. Audio works, it's like the Pre doesn't understand what to do with the file or something. The screen blinks acknowledging the request and that's it.

I have the same problem aswell. I press the blue button to preview my ringtones and nothing happens.

The phone, the music player and the videoplayer work well.
It's only the ringtone preview thing.....

Same here, i have 2 Pre's both O2 locked GSM's running sprint 1.4, 1 does preview ringtones, 1 does not.

Try hard reset, or doctor it with 1.4

I'll chime in on this as well. The new built in ringtones are grayed out, and don't play right away. I've had to to fiddle with volumn control to get it to work. I wonder if it's tied into volumn control popping up as well for no reason???

I had this problem last night guys. What I did was just restart the phone and they starting working again for me. Not sure why they wouldn't play in the first place. I also lost my text message sound for awhile too. A simple restart " should " fix the problem.

One question I couldn't see addressed anywhere in regards to this issue is does the progress meter move while the preview should be playing?

Mine does, but I do not hear anything. This bug kind of sucks. It's currently the only issue I am having with my phone.

Would love to collect log files from devices that are exhibiting the behavior both ways

    1. Need log files where meter is progressing however there is no sound
    2. Need log files where nothing is happening.

Which volume control do you have set? I wasn't hearing any ringtones unitl I went into Sounds and Ringtones, and I noticed that the ringtone volume had been set to zero by the update.

I fixed this by using webos doctor last night. I'd give that a try.
