This method does not work anymore!
See here: IPK Fetcher ****************************************** Here is a way to get quite a few of the free apps, even if they are not released for your country. Maybe most people know this, but it was new to me. ![]() Disclaimer: This little HowTo gives you a way to download free apps regardless of the country you are at. It will NOT give you a way for illegally downloading paid apps. Besides following this HowTo, you can also use the program IPK Fetcher. Here you can find the original howto (it is in german though): Tutorial: US-only Apps auf deutschen Palm Pres - Software - Nexave Palmforum Step 1: Download the file Packages from the Palm-Catalog Raw-Feed: http://ipkg.preware.org/feeds/palm-catalog/Packages Other feeds (from preware) can be found here: Index of /feeds/ You can download other Packages files for other feeds from there. Step 2: Open the Packages file with the editor of your choice (gedit, kedit, notepad, wordpad, emacs, nano, vi...) Find the App you want. The free apps give you the location under "Filename". Just add https://cdn.downloads.palm.com/ in front of the given location. It should look like this: https://cdn.downloads.palm.com/apps/...me_version.ipk Step 3: Use the Link to download the package, for example with wget or directly with your browser Edit: Don't use IE it corrupts the ipk-packages (it's a piece of crap anyway) ![]() Step 4: Install the app using "palm install" or "Quick Install" I hope this helps, I hate this country based-app-stuff. It has really been making me mad lately. An app that would let you install those free app directly on your pre would be nice. Tschüß Pete Last edited by petehild; 03/06/2010 at 12:05 PM. |

Please note that you cant download the file using Internet Explorer as it somehow corrupts the file. Works fine in Google Chrome and Firefox.

Ive edited my post above, the file gets corrupt if I download it using IE.
App seems to lockup on my computer or does it freeze while downloading the stream? Edited to say that it works now, just took a while for it to download the app stream, cheers for this. Really appreciated for us that are unwanted customers. =)

Guys, I'm the author of IPK Fetcher, and the reason why I didn't post it here yet is because it's not ready for a platform like Precentral! If it is, I will post it.
You can follow the link at nexave if you know how, but DON'T REDISTRIBUTE please. Last edited by Blacklight; 02/27/2010 at 12:25 PM. |
