I have patches, tweaks, and a theme installed. Do I have to remove these before updating to 1.4 ? I am sorry if this has been posted a few times already I just couldnt find the answer. Thanks for any info!

If you've updated your patches/tweaks to utilize the AUPT-3 you do not need to remove them. If you have applied a theme, you have to remove that!

    - Absolutely remove your theme.

    - Patches are fine as long as they are up to date. Run Preware and make sure there are no packages to update.

    - Your tweaks should be fine as long as you are running the latest version of WebOS Quick Install (3.02). It would be sensible to uninstall your tweaks and then reinstall them to ensure they are protected by the new AUPT technology. As long as you're running the latest version.

If you do everything I've mentioned here you shouldn't have any trouble

Just to be safe I uninstalled all my patches and apps including Preware and PMS. I accidentally took out the Music Player (thought I chose Remix). How can I get it back?

schnergun: Load WebOS Quick Install, hit TOOLS -> THEMER and then click REVERT.

Stryker412: Try loading this patch: http://forums.precentral.net/webos-p...-launcher.html and then click "Rescan Applications"

You might want to test that theory Don't bother though - you really can delete native apps.

I have just one patch that won't update since AUPT. What would happen if I just leave that one alone and upgrade to 1.4?

Can't predict what will happen because I haven't seen the lines of code changed. You have to assume that it will break your device if you update your firmware without AUPT protection.

Of course it might be fine, but that's not a risk most people are willing to take.

I'd just uninstall that one patch before updating

It may be dependant on firmware/application you're trying to delete. I have only tested deleting two apps - one was PDF View and the other was the Music app.

That's the problem, it won't uninstall from Preware.

If I run EPR, that removes all patches, right?

It should remove all patches - in rare cases it does fail though. It's worth a try. If EPR doesn't work, I don't know any further fixes. It might be worth visiting #webos-internals on IRC and asking a dev for further help if EPR fails.

Is there a way of confirming that all of the patches have AUPT protection?

Yes, you can install the Preware Package EFV (http://forums.precentral.net/webos-p...ation-efv.html). When you install it it will fail (this is what's supposed to happen) and then you click "View Log" and it will inform you whether or not you have any patches that aren't protected.

EDIT: Note that it takes a long time to install - don't cancel it, be patient.

Sorry, you might need to install version 2.96 of WebOS Quickinstall in order to use the Themer.

You can find it here: http://forums.precentral.net/webos-t...all-2-9-a.html

Remember to revert to the most recent version (3.02) when you're done

Yes there is... Connect your phone to your PC via USB drive. Browse to your phone drive and open it up. Then open up file .webosinternals.patches. You will need to open up that file with wordpad. You should see all your patches and they should have AUPT at the end of the file name. If they have AUPT then you are good.
