So I called verizon and they said my smartphone data plan is unlimited. So what if I install mytether and mobilehotspot on my pre plus through webosquickinstall will it work?

I TRIED THE BOOTLEG MHS FINAL VERDICT:

After getting it 'working' my browser displayed what is apparently a Verizon firewall message:

Error 500: The system was unable to process your order, please call Customer Service, *611 from your mobile phone, to activate

Unless we can get around that, it's a no go.

    ha... OK I tried it....

    Installed fine...

    freeTether displays my IP....

    MobileHotSpot (bootleg version) loads fine.

My Laptop connected fine and the phone notified me as to the connection.

BUT the laptop only had a Local connection.

    Any ideas?

Are you using MyTether or freeTether? The combo should be freeTether & MHS.

If you're using Vista, try going to Network & Sharing Center, click "View Status" and use the diagnose tool in the "Activity" section to reset the network adapter.

now that i think about it verizon and free dont belong in the same sentence

What are they using to determine an individual is tethering?
  17. #17
they are probably checking how much data is being used per second since a computer would obviously be more intensive than a phone

Well it wouldn't even load a google home page. It just hit the firewall, makes me wonder if mobilehotspot isn't using a referer or something.

Well, it was made for the Verizon Pre...so I would think they would know if you were using their app.
