With the pending 1.4 release and 1000 apps in the app catalog are people satisfied with the pre? To me it was never about how apps in the app store but the overall functionality of the phone. It's obvious that there is only so much that can be done with the sprint pre. More than likely there will be another sprint webos phone to compete with palm pre plus. I wonder how much sprint is a hindrance to webos / palm growth. I still recall the confusion at launch with the pre pricing.

I'm still waiting for a task app with timed reminders, calendar reminders that are longer than 1hr and less than 1 day, and finally bluetooth file transfer.

sprint is only half the size of VZ, so I really dont blame them, except the MiFi function/tethering problem.

I think the functions you mentioned, or lack of, has little to do with sprint, also, they have little to do with a new Pre plus, Pre 2, etc, original Pre is a powerful device and easily capable of all the stuff you want.

I think its only a problem of how palm allocate their resources at this time.

The biggest problem with WebOS right now, is it still stutters with menus and it can have a lag when opening apps. Clear those out, and with 1.4 I really don't see how you could make a much better phone OS.

But remember too that Palm needs to allocate their resources on additional sales, they can't just sell two phones for an initial fee and hope everyone will continue to buy those phone forever. If they don't do this than Palm will go under and we'll be alot more worse off than we are.

As long as a device can expect to live for 2-3 years and not see a huge schism of capabilities (such as with android and the way iPhone is headed), I see Palm's actions as being the best for them, and hopefully very beneficial for us as well.

I mean the phone's already a year old and it's planned to still be relevant for a few more years so it's looking pretty good from where I stand. It's really not like the iPhone where if you don't buy the latest phone each year you'll get one update to say goodbye and start missing out, and if you go with an android phone a month later a new phone will come out with a better version that you probably will never get in your phone's lifetime.

well i agree with the lag, I disagree with the menu thing.

i think its great, its so much easier to turn off and off wifi, bt, airplane mode, etc, from anywhere, in any apps.

Oh don't get me wrong, the use of the menus is awesome. But sometimes their animations are all jerky and it stutters. It is more of a polish thing that needs to be done. I still get a little jealous of iPhones when I see how smooth all of their transitions are. I know the Pre has the hardware to get it done, so I am just hoping to see some of that.

aha, okay, in that case, totally agree. System optimization need to be improved continuously.
