I know there are a few apps out that let you listen to shoutcast etc.. Are there any that allow you to enter the url of any online station and listen to it? I can't purchase a pre from Sprint unless I confirm this. Thanks so much to everyone in advance.

You can enter the URL into the browser and the browser will launch the music player. This is still assuming that the online radio stations are in a supported format. Currently that means no Windows Media, Real Audio or OGG as far as I Can tell.. MP3 streams work fine.

Im using it that way too, works like a charme with mp3 streams. Also you can add a browser bookmark to the launcher so you have instant music on the push of a button

How do you add a Browser Bookmark to the Launcher that goes straight to the stream and not the Page with a link to the stream?

Thanks for the response. The only problem with that method is the lack of Song info such as artist and title. In a program like Pocket-tunes which is out for windows mobile and the Iphone, you can enter any url you want and it will play it and display song info. I was wondering if there is something comparable on the pre.

Anyone have a link to a streaming music station's pls or m3u file that wants an app for that particular station?

I've had great success using the RadioTime app which is allowing me to find a station that plays the stuff I want from a station that can provide it in a form the Pre can handle.

I am a Randi Rhodes fan and she is on Clearview, which uses I Heart, and I discovered her for free from a station in Washington DC.

So check out RadioTime's website to see if you stuff is available from them, then you can get the Pre.

You setup your 'Presets' on the website and they get downloaded to the Pre. It's just done once.

But you can check out all the stations, and then also check which format your device can't handle so it won't display those that your device cannot handle.

So check out this website, and I have to tell you that after getting RadioTime, I now have all the features in the Pre that I ever wanted, coming from a Palm Treo 650.

Oh yes, one more thing is coming Audible is finally coming to the Pre as well.

For anyone who wants an icon on their phone that launches the 66 WFAN Sports Radio - NY.

Let me know if it works for you

Thanks TopTongueBarry, I just picked one randomly for testing purposes.

I've switched to the free RadioTime app, but there's also The Mobile Stream Center USA - Listen to United States Radio Stations on your Pocket PC, Palm, iPhone, iPod touch, Smartphone, or other PDA or mobile device via Wi-Fi, GPRS, EDGE or 3G which you could bookmark. It lists all available streams for various stations sorted by state.

Well I guess that I won't be getting the pre this time around. I am interested in listening to stations such as ascendanceradio and radiodanz. Both those wont be listed in the directories. Thanks everyone for replying though.

broadcast lets you enter urls of online stations I am listening aol radio stations and various other ones.

You sure you can just enter any url such as radiodanz.com:8000 and get it to work? Broadcast doesn't seem to advertise this ability. Do any of the programs like net2streams, radio hbiki or radiotime do this as well?

    http://77.92.67.221:8080/listen.pls

These are just a few of the one I have added to my favorites in broadcast

Not sure about the other ones.

If you can get the url I have found that winamp and vlc player get that information great, you input that into the favorite section under search url in Broadcast and it will plug that station in. Broadcast is by far my favorite online radio app.

Thanks. I know that pocket-tunes and many other programs for other platforms show you the artist and title of the song that is currently playing on the internet radio station. I was wondering if Broadcast does the same. Thanks
