I currently have an ancient Treo 700w that needs to be upgraded. I use my Treo to store many work related facts, numbers, etc that I need access to. However, I spend some time each week in a building that gets no usable cell signal. How does the Pre work for accessing data, contacts, schedules when it cannot contact the cloud? Is the data on the phone and the cloud is only used for syncing, or is the data stored in the cloud and unaccessable if the cloud is unaccessable?

Most of the data is stored locally. Obviously you won't be able to sync and update if you have no service, but you'll be able to look at your contacts and calendars. E-mails in your inbox will usually be on the phone, but other folders like sent and trash will not always be completely available.

It'll all be on the phone, just the syncing part wont happen when the cloud is not available.

    Thanks much for the info.

One more questions--Can it sync through WiFi?
