If the touchscreen is broken, is the another means of getting through the menu since touches don't register

Ohhh, well depends on what you are looking to do is the question. You can still launch apps or any of the items on the launcher pages by typing the name of the app using universal search. and all you have to do is hit the enter/return key to accept it. you can also find contacts this way as well. you can always use the keypad to dial the number of a specific contact as well. So essentially yes you can do just about anything, but something like that should be covered under your EPP and recieve a free refurb if tech support can not fix it? but all those should work in the interim. there are also ways to reset your phone etc which im sure u may know like orange+sym+r hope that helps?

as chich said your better off getting a refurb since your pre will basically be like a blackberry without a trackball

You can also hook up a USB cable to the Pre and press Option + Sym + U to activate USB mode in order to copy off your files before getting a refurb Pre. But yeah, if your touchscreen is broken, your better off going for a refurb.

Broken touchscreen is a non repairable issue. If you go to the store they will either give you a free replacement or tell you to get a new one through insurance ($100) If it looks like its your fault they will tell you go the insurance route. If your phone is free of any evidence of water damage and has no chips, straches that might indicate you dropped it then they will likely give you a free replacement.

If you go to the store take off stuff like screen protectors (zagg etc..) Some can try to claim the application of it might of messed up the screen (wetting the device to stick it on correctly etc.) Some employees don't care as much to give out replacements and some can be @**h*les about it. Esp. if they are still selling Pre's at a good rate.

If your screen cracked on the inside only, and without any damage to the outside plastic (like if you dropped it and its all scuffed up), this is a FREE warranty replacement. If you click on search, then advanced search--you can search my username "piaband", you will see a thread I started...it has a link to the Sprint webpage that states this.

    Good luck.
