Anybody else (at least in Miami) get text messages from "unknown" asking to call such and such Credit Union b/c your ATM card was suspended?

And if so, how can I block those? I know I can block messages in the Sprint page, but that requires knowing the sender's number. Obviously, I dont see it if it is from unknown.

I get about 5 a day.

thanks

Dumb question, but have you contacted Sprint about this since this is attempted Phishing issue. I would think they could do something about this in their system.

habit was to check here first for a trick, tweak, or something.

I will call Spring, where they will tell me to block all texts.

I've received a couple of these as well. I knew what they were up to from the start so I decided to have a little bit of fun with them. I even gave them a fake 16 digit CC # and they felt like they had me...they didn't

Sprint can look up the sender of that SMS but you have to pressure them. It IS stored in a DB or, depending on where it came from, went through an aggregator or an SMS gateway provider and they will have it in their DB. No matter though, the record does exist so put pressure on them if you want to find out who's sending it.

good luck with it.

ok, and if SPrint identifies the number, what can I do then? I cant block them since they send it as unknown.

I was told to fwd the text to abuse@messaging.sprintpcs.com so they can send letters. Or I can change my number.

What a crock....

One thing you could do is contact the DA about it. If they get enough complaints, they will generally look into things. (that's how Illinois keeps losing Governors)

You can block text messages from ANY number or short code by going to Sprint.com and logging into your account. At the top click on "My Content Manager" and afterwards you will see a link at the bottom left corner of the screen to block text messages.

I had the same issue. You can forward text message to 9999 and type block phone number or email etc.

The 9999 thing really works but you need the phone number to be able to block. Thanks edlex I was having trouble getting texts from a google voice number and this seemed to have fixed it for now. Apparently it's a Sprint service.

go here: here

the location you send to is: 9999

to block a number send: block xxx-xxx-xxxx
to allow a number send: allow xxx-xxx-xxxx
to see who you have blocked: list

and so on...

this is a sprint thang...
