Thank god for Sling Play and Flash teaming up on this. My heart dropped when I just read the article about sling coming to webos. This was one of the main apps I used on all my WM phones. I'm a beta tester for Sling and have tested every signal version for the windows mobile platform. Sling knows I own a Palm pre and I'm sure I'll be on the testing board. I'll let you guys know asap soon as I hear anything come up.

    Read the last sentence

when adobe flash 10.1 comes the way of webos in february, a whole new world of interactive content is going to be opened up to pre and pixi users. Fierce wireless is reporting that sling media, the company behind slingplayer, has announced a collaboration with adobe to support the flash streaming protocols for the "smooth streaming of h.264 audio and video", meaning that any device supporting flash 10.1 (that'll be you webos users out there soon enough) will be able to run the full slingplayer application.

Ask your Sling pals if I can use my Slingbox AV with Flash and the Pre.
It would be disappointing to have to get a new Slingbox, like Sling almost did with the iPhone app.

This brings up the question what sling players if any will work with the PRE?

I believe it will only work at this time with the PRO HD sling box and not the solo and av ones. They will eventually said that the Solo will get support eventualy but I read not the AV. Making my 2 AV sling boxes useless and I dont have the money to go buy the expensive PRO HD box and then pay $30 for the app.

Same boat. The Flash does not support the AV as far as I know from people who are using it and from what I read on the Sling forums.Makes our slingboxes useless for the PRE.

They have said it will only be supprted for the HD and eventually the Solo Unfortunatly the AV and all legacy slingplayers (Classic, AV and Tuner ) will not be supported for slingplayer flash it seems from readin the forums. I believ it has to do with H.264 audio and video requirments that cant be had from the Legacy boxes and they are trying to faze them out and push the HD Pro and Solo which are the newer ones.

Yup I guess I need to buy a new sling box.

Still have some hope they will have an APP since that would work with the Legacy boxes but it seems they are heading the way of Slingplayer Flash.Disapointing as Slingplayer was my #1 program for my Treo/Centro but in my current financial situation I cant afford it,.Still is nice to know that anyone who has a PRE and can afford a Slingplayer HD PRO and the APP can get it as I am sure there are alot of user who have the Pro OR can afford it and for them this is great news. My personal financial situation asside this is great news.

I can't afford a Pro either my plan was either to steal it from the store or rob a bank.

If my "classic" slingplayer works within firefox and IE browser at sling.com wouldn't it work on palm?

In theory yes but they are doing away with the lower quality video and sound and pushing everyone to the better setup.

I have a classic as well, but If I recall correctly, you had to install a plugin to get the sling.com thing to work. (meaning it's not purely flash, at the moment)

I have been waiting and waiting for a sling app to come to our phones, and I was super excited when I read that one would, but now I'm super disappointed because it wont work with my ancient classic slingbox ... That thing was not cheap when I bought it, and I don't want to buy a new one. I guess It's back to using orb for me...

I fill the same way as you pomokey. I guess will try orb first. But I might upgrade if I have too. I have had the classic for I think 4 years now. I do fill like I got my monies worth.

Yeah I got the AV for $100 ( 2 of them, $100 each) at Buy.com like over 6 years ago. The Pro is $350 and the Solo is $200 ish. way too much for now. To replace both of mine it would be $400-$700. I might as well buy a TV for that money. but I still use mine on all my laptops so my only issue is my Pre. And also felt I definetly got my moneys worth from the AV.
