    Seriously though.

Maybe they don't want to get to 1.4 any sooner than necessary.

You could just wait until they release the next number you like.
I thought the same thing. Maybe 1.4 will have a major change that they are currently working on and since it's just a bug patch-up job, it doesn't deserve a version sub number...but a version sub sub sub number.

whats with the bug up everyones ****?!?? its just a silly quest not a complaint , at least thats how i see it IMHO.

But whatever i think the usefulness of this thread has been killed a number of posts ago.

If you think 1.3.5.1 is bad, I work for a software company where we had a version 5.5j2r3 as a version number which is like revision 3 of the second revision of the 10th version of 5.5! Now we just use normal ones like 9.0.1.

    LOL

I'm not complaining or ticked off. I thought someone might know why Palm decided to depart from their normal way of things. I'm thinking it has something to do with CES and having 1.3.5 already being so much a part of it that it's a bit late to change it.

The first shipment of Pixi's had 1.2.9.1 pre-loaded, so this really isn't anything new.
    Treo 300 > Hitachi G1000 > PPC-6700 > PPC-6800 (Mogul) > PPC-6850 (Touch Pro) > Palm Pre & HTC EVO Optimus V

They could have hired the people who came up with Sun's versioning (they should fit in at Oracle...) Java is at 6 now? But it is really 1.6. So what happens when Java 2.0 comes out, will it be Java 20?
Solaris 10 is actually, I think, Solaris 2.10, which is really SunOS 5.10.

Hardly did you upset me. I'm perfectly fine with Palm. I feel no need to bi*** at them when they are releasing updates. But someone in your shoes, bi***es if they release updates, or if they don't. So no one ever wins with you.

Hardly my foot. You're upset. I can feel it. :P

I take it all back, i swear. 4 digits is good. Maybe we'll hear about 2.0.1.0 at CES. (see what i did there?)

1.3.5.1 was obviously an unexpected update. Palm is probably using 1.3.6 in some dev trees (either internal-only or a possible future release) and didn't want to screw things up. It's not that unusual.

1 - The major firmware version only BIG enhancements will change this number.
3 - The minor updates within the major version
5 - The small changes or upgraded features
1 - Only minisual fixes like the calendar fix
