MMS not working

Hi,

I have a German QWERTZ Pre and I just updated to 1.3.1 in order to be able to set my mms settings manually since MMS didnt work in previous versions.

Updating to 1.3.1 didnt help much, I manually entered the settings for my carrier Tele2 Comviq (Sweden) with these settings found on tele2:s website:

APN: internet.tele2.se
Username:
Password:
MMSC: http://mmsc.tele2.se
MMS-Proxy: 130.244.202.030:8080

It still doesnt work! I have roaming enabled and surfing the internet works but not receiving or sending mms. Any ideas?

Has anyone else been able to get MMS working in Tele2 Comviq?

Did you tried to restart your Pre after entering settings?
And firstly, try to send an MMS message to your self.

Yes, I did try to restart, I have also downloaded the settings db to enter them myself and doesnt work. The thing is the settings that are pre-set in the phone are completely correct so they should work out of the box.

Is there any other way to restart the phone than Orange + Sym + R ?

I know this is a simple question but is data turned on? I only ask because I notice that if I am on wifi and I turn the 3g data off, MMS doesn't work until I turn data back on.

Yes, I have data usage on and I turned on collection of background data.
its very annoying that I can't get MMS working despite manually setting the correct settings.

any other ideas?

Can you check if you are able to send MMS with the same SIM in other phone?

And you can send/receive MMS messages using 3G or EDGE/GPRS (2G).

I have German O2 unlocked Pre (Qwertz), too.
MMS works, even though I left MMS APN setting blank. Maybe you should try that, too?

With webOS 1.1.3 both data and MMS worked, but when updating to 1.3.1,
I had to set data APN manually to make data back in working order.
I couldn't find/get MMS APN settings for my operator (Telia-Sonera Finland).
As it appeared, funnily enough, that wasn't even necessary.
My Pre does MMS anyway.

Hi, I have tried sending mms with other phones and it works perfectly. I have 3000 free mms in my contract so I have sent quite alot mms. Thats why it is annoying to see that it doesnt work on my Pre. I love the phone in every other way but this bugs the crap out of me.

Thanks for your info, I have manually set the APN settings I had on the Iphone and which worked without a flaw, its those that I posted in my original post.

I talked to Palm and they said I should do a battery pull, and yeah, guess what? That didnt help.

My SIM is a 3G SIM and capable of MMS-ing.

I just talked to my carrier and they said that they dont support Palm Pre. MMS apperently works for every other phone but not Palm which is not in their system :S

Very stupid answer but the dude on the phone said that's the reason it didnt work. Even though I said that I had used MMS in the Iphone before they even got it to Sweden and even though I told them that the Palm Pre had an option to manually enter these settings even if they couldnt send them to me the usual way.

Whats left to do? Cuz this is ****ing me off now. Anyone else in Sweden that got MMS working, and especially on Tele2?

It is the same with Telia-Sonera. On their web pages they say only the phones listed will work. That list doesn't include Pre, but in this instance, that didn't matter.
Given that (and your own experience with iPhone), the answer you got is bs. Hope you get proper answers some time soon!

So I just got off the phone with an Technical support rep. from Palm named Sebastian. He asked me to do a quick test by entering Launcher - Device Info - Preference - Quick tests and performing a hardware test. The hardware test found one issue. The code was 1000 and concerned the modem. I googled these codes and found an excellent post about error codes on the Pre.

This is what code 1000 stands for: Non-provisioned phone

And the actions to be taken were:
1. Verify account has correct plan and is provisioned correctly

2. Perform ##RTN

3. Run Quick Tests again to see if error occurs

4. If the error occurs again, advise the customer to run the Recovery Tool

5. Run Quick Tests again to see if error

6. If it occurs again, exchange the phone and note error code in account occurs

Now what is interesting here is that I have a German Unlocked QWERTZ Palm pre, and since its unlocked why would it need to be "provisioned"?

I would like to ask others with a German Unlocked Palm Pre to perform the same test and reply with the codes they get (if u get any)...I would very much appreciate that.

How did you enter that command ##RTN ?!
They say here the hash codes are pretty much nonexistent in GSM Pre.

At least I can't get any of those codes working on my Pre.

I didn't, I didnt do the actions outlined there, I just tested the hardware with the quick test and was wondering if someone else with a GSM Pre could do the same.

I would try and leave the port number out and just enter "130.244.202.030"

I put that in and saved anyway because the manual settings page said: "invalid settings" like it has always done despite them not being invalid.

I just tried that. Still get the "unable to send message: A network error occurred"-message. I have the 3G sign on top, my guess its not lying, I do have 3G, I also have 4 bars (out of five).

I have played with the db. settings so that everything is correct (even though they are for a fact correct from the get-go).

Any other ideas? I have done a partial erase also and that didnt do any good.

Any luck with this yet? I have a UK Pre with Rebel SIM and Tele2. Have also tried manual settings, altering the carrier db on the Pre etc., etc., but can't get MMS to work. As you say, all the settings seem to be correct from the start, so it should work...

i have the same issue with the mms,
the strange part is that it works when i initially enable the data, then it stops receiving MMSs.

tried most of the above and still not working.

I’m in uae dubai using etisalat sim.

everything worked when i was on 1.3.1, this issue started after going to 1.3.5.2.

i want to doctor my phone as a last solution , but still waiting for the webdoctor 1.3.5.2 to be release for o2 Germany.

i'll do the hardware test and see if i get the same error.
