jus swipe the gesture area up through screen and the launcher will show...that icon is pointless if the gesture feature is available

No need for for phone icon, I open my contacts with launcher or up gesture, made speed dial conatcs w/ pictures w/ launchpoint, phone app, gdial pro, youmail(youview) app & contacts icon.

I would love to remove/replace the Launcher, and add Precorder
I have the "hide task bar" patch, and jst swipe up for pages. I have 4 pages.

I agree with a post here about, when you show someone the greatest phone ever (Palm Pre) lol. They want to see everything so they start looking @ all the contacts, messages and so on... I like it being hidden.

They are my secondary most used apps. My primary most used apps I have open as cards at all times: Messaging, Browser, Phone or PhotoDialer, and occasionally the Email app and/or Tasks.

I don't see the point in having contacts in the QuickLaunch bar, universal search is so convenient.

I agree that having the static Launcher icon is pointless; having a fifth choice would be better. I would probably have Sprint Nav as my 5th.
