Default --Your questions:Our answers:You're welcome--

This is a sub-forum designed to help you find your answer, without fear of getting ambushed by a drive-by flamethrower. The good people that will help you here have all volunteered SPECIFICALLY for this purpose. Anybody that comes here to flame will be thrown out. This is a 'sticky' now... I'm sure the Mods are watching it very carefully.

Over time, you may come to know each of my helpers' personalities and abilities.

If you're a regular on the PreCentral forums, you probably already know Shadavis08, the guy who's ALWAYS LOL'ing as if somebody is tickling him every time he types something. He's always good for a laugh or two (but no more than two) and he seems to know what he's talking about, Pre-wise.

Another important helper we have is Complex Pants (He prefers to be called, Master Pants.) He's real good with technical stuff.

We also have an energetic young lady named Blaize, but she prefers to be known as Mistress (I canNOT let my wife see this). Blaize/Mistress takes GREAT pride in being 'average' (LOL). Therefore, she has the 'Average User' angle covered beautifully.

Acknowledgment also goes to the following members who signed up to help: Colonel Angus, Tcub, bpdamas, tejoe, jbg7474 and windzilla can probably help ppl with the most technical questions. HParsons is everybody's favorite debator. Buzzard Jr promised to be the guy with the humor. We also have these three, waiting to help you: joetemp75, Soccerpathic and Brain Mantis.

As for me- I'm just DBD. If YOU would like to help us, let us know. Try us, you might like us. If we can help you- great. If not- then maybe we'll make you laugh (I just don't know for sure if it'll be at us or with us).

MODERATOR NOTE: Suggestions to members posting a question and members answering the question:

1. Users that ask for help or question, try to post a title that make gives a short summary of your question or challenges.
2. Member helpers, try to quote a short text from the original post (specially if they have a long one, I only need the link to their post). Its hard to follow when questions are mixed between each answer and followup responses.
3. If I accidentally moved your response to the wrong thread, please advise.
4. When answering questions, if you could also post a link to the thread, that would be of benefit to all.
5. If I missed something, please PM to my attention with the information (or link)

The first 6 pages are mostly setup questions and clarifications on the procedure. For open queries, skip to page 7 and forward.

Thanks,
ronbo2000

Limited knowledge, but may bring a more "average user" perspective, if you'd like to have me.

I literally am kind of confused on the point. Is this supposed to be just a general help thread?

It's always good to have a stage name, but 'Joe' will do.
Or maybe you could be 'Average Joe'. Yes? No? Maybe?

Appreciate it! I do patch and homebrew a lot. Fun, fun, fun and I am living proof that you do not have to be a developer/designer/programmer to use and enjoy this stuff.

I'd like to help people get past something that is stressing them out about the phone. Maybe noob's who are just scratching their heads, trying to figure out what's going on.
And maybe some of my 'associates' can help with more technical issues that trouble the best of us.

...... And thanx, Windy, HParsons and Tcub!
This is shaping up to be a very strong crew.

It would almost be nice if this could be a service where you submit a question on precentral and don't have to sign up for the forums. A lot of people new to the phone, and possibly the internet, won't want to sign up for a forum or might even feel overwhelmed.

Wouldn't it be great if there was a place to go where I could ask questions about my Pre and have access to thousands of users' expertise at my fingertips?

Now imagine, I could click and submit a question and have user responses come up, I don't know, thread like... that would be rad....

Don't get me wrong, I definitely don't have a problem helping because I always try and help as much as I can but isn't this "help" thread that was started the exact same thing as this sub forum? I mean it is hard enough for users to search with the general search function let alone search within a thread. I think it will be very difficult for people to find answers to problems that have already been asked multiple times inside of this thread. Does anyone remember that was around the registry thread for the 800w? http://discussion.treocentral.com/tr...ts-tweaks.html A lot of very good information but near impossible to find in the thread. I am skeptical of this turning into the same thing.

All that being said, I am more than happy to subscribe. I just don't see a big difference between the tips sub forum.

Lol. That one is pretty funny.

Wait ... I think ... maybe ... yeah. I got it. It could be labeled as tips for your Palm Pre! There you could also post other information relating to the Pre to try and help out other users! Maybe even post different resources that you have for your Pre! Heck, I would just call it Palm Pre Tips, Information, and Resources. Wait ... what?

Ultimately I think it is a noble effort, I just feel like something is already in place exactly like this.
