That's the German unlocked Pre with QWERTZ keyboard, it's not from the US. But it does work in the US. The Z and Y are switched.

The GSM Pre isn't being sold in the US officially..

It's an import. It says in big red letters it has a QWERTZ. The image is for display purposes only, probably. Sorry. You can switch Z and Y in webOS with a patch.

Fully US compatible GSM Palm Pre won't be out until at least tomorrow.

Any EU Palm Pre will run on US GSM networks in EDGE only.
Palm IIIc -> Sony CLIÉ T650C -> Sony TJ-37 -> Palm TX -> Palm Centro -> Palm Pre Bell -> Palm Pre Plus Bell/Verizon Hybrid -> HP Veer -> HP Pre 3 NA -> BlackBerry Classic -> BlackBerry Priv

It's a Late Goodbye, such a Late Goodbye.

I would suppose the only part that's different is the modem board. The CDMA version is the same hardware as well with the exception of that as well.

Although that's enough for the EU GSM version to not carry the US FCC ID.

bought mine from these guys (www.berryaccessories.com). works fine in 2G on at&t, but if you select 3G only, phone then says "no network" after searching for a few seconds, in contrary to what they advertise ("Quad Band with US 3G").

keyboard is QWERTZ as advertise in text, which is not a big issue.

phone updated to WebOS 1.3.1 immediately after creating the Palm profile.
