    [Update.. It's out now.. .:-)]

    Here's the update so far..

    1. First flash the phone with the new firmware..
    2. Install Preware
    3. Restarted the phone (held down the power button.. then power / restart. (doing this hides the Package manager icon)
    4. Started up Preware. Patches.. Dangerous.. Smartrelfex 600Mhz (yeah get that speed up !) I like living on the 3G.. (lol) and then restarted the phone (needed as it says to do it). It locked up on reboot.. so removed the battery, restarted and all seems well and fast ! Maybe I should of shutdown then restarted..
    5. Started up Preware. Patches.. View all.. Virtual Keyboard. (its worth a play !)
    6. time for work :-(

Well for us newbies.. What will the experianced GSM Pre owner do when they finally get the firmware ?

I will be looking at installing Preware but then what ? Also what's the easiest way to install preware at the moment ?

I think a few pointers will help afew people like me out.

What are the recommended patch's etc...

    thanks

    Steve

Patch the hell out of my pre, same as currently, i just want the damn paid apps.

Install Preware via WOSQI, first choose the package manager service, reboot, then preware. If you need detailed instructions feel free to ask.

    Virtual keyboard.

Patches, patches, and some more patches.

Oh, and Overclocking the processor to 600mhz

well.. it's the night before xmas (well it might as well be !)

    Getting a shortlist together..

First the flash.. then a little play
Next is Preware.. then a little play
Next is the SmartReflex Patch (for an increased speed :-) )

hmmm so far so good :-)

Then I want to try the Virtual keyboard. ...

    what next ?

    1. updating
    2. waiting for the next update - perhaps to 3.0 to receive an worth-it-s-money-smartphone

Iknow that palm's not in a good situation atm, but hey - there are still so damn basic cellphone features missing.
And of course - a lot of businessfeatures are also missing.

Ever tried to keep the overview over some hundret emails in your companie exchange folder?
Or even looking for a special email?

ANd the main thing that frightens me, is the speed: atm the pre is hardly fast enough - and if palm would ever manage to make webOS a real smartphone OS - don't think that the power of the pre is sufficient.

Perhaps palm knew that when they decided to throw a 20% finished OS onto the market? =)

Find out how to get Classic re-installed as its disappeared and not in the app catalog, as its a paid for app. That I have paid for!

That's a pain. My Classic remained on my Pre, so I hope it stays there until the App catalog is fixed
