Pre seems plenty fast to me, maybe I'm just easily satisfied though.

My Pre is no where near that fast and in general I am wholly disappointed with the speed of the Pre. That said its multi-tasking abilities still leads to less time being taken to get things done. The speed will improve with time and the GPU being enabled.

I have to agree my pre is just as fast as the one in the video I do not understand peoples issues with speed.

I just attempted this little test on mine. I had 22 cards open and I recorded it on my Flip Mino. If there are any doubters, I will post it.

Sweet! Gonna have to add them to mine... No wonder yours is so speedy! LOL

OP, what exactly are the two patches that gave you speed increase?

I can find the "Lower Swap Threshold" on Preware...not-so-much finding the "other" one. Someone mentioned "Extra Cards" but there's no patch with the word "extra" in it.

I noticed a boost in speed after 1.2.0 and an even greater increase after the "Lower Swap Threshold"

I dont have the Extra Cards patch, afterall. The Lower Swap Threshold can be applied via Preware, should be the WebOS Patches feed.

The extra cards patch is not in Preware and it will not be going to Preware (per the author of the patch). You'll have to find it in the thread. Do a search in the forums for extra card. You'll have to dl it and send it via WebOS Quick Install to your Pre.

What I've noticed about the "extra cards patch" (which is really
an "trade /tmp memory for active memory patch") is that while it
makes the phone noticeably more responsive for a while, when it does
eventually have to do large scale garbage collection and/or swapping,
it takes more time. I think the trade-off is worth it, but it definitely
has the occasional longer period of lag (where you can do virtually nothing)
than it did before the patch.

You'll also not be guaranteed to get say 22 cards open. It depends a lot
on the types of apps. Even one image intensive web page can use
up most of your active memory, for instance.

My Pre was sluggish at first. When I updated to 1.3.1, though, it got a hella lot more snappy. I don't have performance issues anymore. The Music (remix) patch slowed my Pre down lots, though. I got rid of it and that fixed things good.

I use a few patches. LED notification, virtual keyboard and a couple other GUI changes but nothing big.

I think performance issues might be due to sloppy updates or patches or something.

Is this a worthwhile patch for the Pixi or does it only apply to the Pre?

would lower swap threshold cause problems if used in conjunction with the smartreflex patch?

EDIT: just removed the smartflex after checking preware today
