It's definitely not that because I have the stock pre with nothing added to it as far as tweaks go and I still get the too many cards open error with 1 or no cards open. Keep searching.

So are you saying you don't have the switcharoo program installed?
And how long have you been seeing this error?

    Thanks

Okay, so I have deliberately stayed away from both the stock Pre App Catalog and filecoaster, and I have had this "too many cards" message at least four times since then. So it's not the App Catalog (or so I am saying).

I do use Switcheroo, so I'm willing to say it's that.

However, today things got a lot worse. My phone, sitting on the Touchstone for a few hours, displayed this message "Memory Critical, too many cards!" with a subheading of "Throw away cards to recover".

It was doing NOTHING. It had four cards open (basic ones) and I had reset it not a day or so before.

I'm beginning to think it's one of the background programs. Anyone else?

    Thanks,
    Bruce

I was getting this error daily until Psm9 informed me that the switcharoo app had an update to fix that exact error, and even though I updated the app the error continued. So I removed switcharoo (on the 5th) and haven't had the error since.

For those who are setup to get Linux prompt from computer and like to geek out, next time you are not able to open cards even though none running, Linux in and do this at command prompt...

    Enter 'top' at command line
Press 'Capital F' key to sort by field
Press 'q' key to sort by Resident Memory
Press Enter to return to list of processes
Press 'q' to quit when ready to

    Code:
      PID USER PRPRPR $NI$ $VIRT$ $RES$ $SHR$ $S$ %$CPU$ %$MEM$ $TIME$+ $CODE$ $DATA$ $COMMAND$
     $1233$ $root$ $19$ -$1$ $318m$ $92m$ $14m$ $S$ $0$.$3$ $38$.$6$ $14$:$11$.$66$ $1008$ $209m$ $LunaSysMg$
     $1156$ $root$ $20$ $0$ $86220$ $26m$ $4348$ $S$ $0$.$0$ $11$.$0$ $0$:$41$.$70$ $780$ $62m$ $java$
     $3888$ $root$ $20$ $0$ $49136$ $13m$ $6140$ $S$ $0$.$0$ $5$.$5$ $0$:$00$.$53$ $104$ $18m$ $BrowserSe$
     $2101$ $root$ $20$ $0$ $20424$ $3188$ $3188$ $S$ $0$.$0$ $1$.$3$ $0$:$00$.$24$ $44$ $564$ $locationa$
'zombie' in upper right corner should be '0'.

    With no apps running,
LunaSysMgr should use about 65-100m RES memory, VIRT might hit up to 325m
    java should use <32m RES
    BrowserServer should use <20m RES
pulseaudio might use up to 12m RES

All other processes shouldn't have 'm' after the RES number.

If there is any process with 'm' or if the above processes are significantly higher, it may indicate one has a memory leak.

Next step is to note the process id (PID) column in top command.
Quit top (press q to quit)

Now do this at linux prompt...

    pmap -x #
(where # is the process id number found in top)

Paste the results here. We might be able to find the source of any memory leaks.
