My battery is usually about 35-40% at the end of the day when I put it back on my touchstone (usually 10pm). My daily use is probably considered moderate.
I installed 1.2 last night and today my battery totally died at 5pm. I even got that weird battery icon.
I don't want to jump the gun here but the only thing that is different is the 1.2, I will see tomorrow for sure...maybe it was just a fluke.

Maybe you you didn't read my post correctly.
I never had battery issues until tonight and I went to 1.2 last night.
As I stated usually my battery is fine.
I have owned the Pre since it came out.
    Geesh!

Try checking the login status of your Messenger app (AIM). The 1.2 upgrade changed my login status to 'available' for some reason.

Sigh. There should be a big bold sticky after every WebOS update
explaining that battery % weirdness (both good and bad)
should be ignored for several days after every update.

The proposed explanation most consistent with the symptoms is that
a full update resets the calibration of the battery % gauge
and it takes a few charge cycles for it to stabilize.
The battery usage itself is not changing, just the reported %.

Let it run down and recharge a few times and it'll return to normal.
We saw it immediately after 1.1 and it's doing the same thing now.

    Absolutely!

Not to mention the power used while downloading and installing plus the extended use exploring the updated apps and function.

Reports of extraordinarily good battery usage are just as suspect as extraordinarily bad.

Report back 1 week from now.

I noticed yesterday that it was much better than it had been. We'll see how it does in a week. But, so far it looks promising.
