I have reset my computer, reset my Pre, but I still get the message USB device not recognized.

It does give me the options Just Charge, USB drive, etc. but my computer won't recognize it.

WebOS Quick Install tells me to connect device. I have not updated to the newest version.

    Any suggestions?

http://forums.precentral.net/homebre...ml#post1812484 this is troublshooting guide if you need it

I'm getting "ERROR: No device found."
Common error. Two reasons this could occur:

    1. Mis-matched your choice of device. In WebOS Quick Install, click menu File->Options. If your target is the WebOS emulator on your computer, choose "Emulator"; if your target is a real device, like a Palm Pre, choose "USB Device".
    2. Your device and/or computer are not configured correctly. WebOS Quick Install depends on both your device being ready for the connection as well as your computer being ready for the connection.
    * Novacom needs to be installed on your computer. In WebOS Quick Install, click menu File->Options. Click the "Attempt Novacom (re)installation" button.
o Alternatively, Windows users can manually install Novacom via this method.
o Linux users can download Novacom here. Read this guide if your Linux distribution doesn't use Debian files.
o A computer restart is highly recommended.
o Windows users can verify Novacom is running by going StartMenu->Run...->"services.msc" and looking for a "Palm Novacom" entry and making sure it's started.
    * WebOS device needs to have DevMode.
o This can be done by typing "upupdowndownleftrightleftrightbastart", opening the DeveloperMode app, and enabling the feature.
o Some circumstances can cause the the toggle to show as enabled even when its disabled. To solve this problem, disable it then re-enable it.
o Some people report OTA updates reset DevMode. Keep that in mind when updating.
    * When you plugin your device, choose "Just Charge"

here read through this it should help if you need it

Since the error came up USB Device not recognized as soon as I plugged it in I figured it was not the problem of Webos. I took the usb cable from my touchstone and tried it and it worked right away. So I guess it was the cable. Good luck with yours.

My computer is Windows 7 ,and i get the same error ,when i connect Pre to another computer, windows xp,it work fine, any suggestions?

I just had the same problem.

I went into WebOS Quickstart and tried the reinstall as mentioned above, and that didn't help.

Then I tried putting DevMode back on (I think the problems started when I shut off DevMode) while the Pre was USB-plugged into the computer. After the restart, it was working again.

So, I experimented and shut DevMode off again (while plugged into the computer) and when it restarted, was still working.

you need to reinstall novacom driver .
