Is there a back cover for the Palm Pre without a camera hole? There are areas in my work that will not allow a camera phone.

    duct tape fixes everything :P.

But in all seriousness, I have no idea. I have not heard of one. It seems very unpractical when said, but valid in the situation you presented. Good luck finding one

Still wouldn't change the fact that your phone is a camera phone. If anyone knows what the Pre is, you could get in some serious trouble.

you can always get a skin, like for an iphone and cut it to fit the pre and cover the hole.

That is a VERY good, and important, point.

Depending on what kind of environment you work in, and just how sensitive they are about things like camera phones, putting on a cover that makes it 'look' like it's not a camera phone could get you into serious hot water if anybody was to figure out that all you had to do to take pictures to your heart's content was remove the back cover.

the only real solution to this is to look for employment outside of a strip club...

    lol, nice one.

Seriously though, my day job is at a casino, and while I'm okay, there are a lot of areas in the casino where you can't bring a camera phone to work with you.

Government contractors, security companies, many tech companies.

There are a lot of places you can't have a camera phone besides the titty bar.

This calls for a dev to create an app the hides/unhides icons. The hider app can just bring up a simple list of all available launcher icons with an "Hide/Unhide" switch. Maybe the code used for this can help in creating such an app.

If you happen to find a cover, you can deny the phone has a camera mode because the app is hidden.

    lol, I say bad plan.

Seriously, everything you do to attempt to disguise the fact that your phone has a camera will reduce the likelyhood that you get caught, but make it that much more likely that you will be fired if you ever are caught.

I once was drunk & strip club hopping with friends. And I got kicked out of one for snapping pics of one of the girls. This undercover chick ratted me out. They asked me to erase the pics. Not that they were any good, I was drunk & moving a lot. So I did... But the bouncer didn't believe me, he asked to see the phone to verify and couldn't figure out how to use it. He gave up and just told me to leave. I walked right next door to the next strip club. Good times.

Until they lift up the cover or if they know anything about the Pre... hiding an app is a bit silly.

Are you sure it wasn't because of your avatar?

Leave your phone in UNRESTRICTED areas when in RESTRICTED areas...or you car or office. But I highly doubt a manufacture makes a phone case that covers up phone ports/openings...
thats reaching, your better to caught with the phone in nude, than to try to "hide" it, WE may know why your doing it but to them it may work in your favor in a bad way as they may assume your REALLY trying to defy them and then your busted..NO No NO.

Simply put, if you disguise your camera phone as a non-camera phone in a govt installation banning those devices and you are EVER caught, regardless of the app being hidden or a false plate being installed you will definitely lose your job and more than likely (depending on the installation/building/company) have charges pressed against you and will have given them all the evidence and suspect they need to get a warrant to seize your other computers/devices to verify you aren't committing treason (I've seen it happen)

If you really must use your Pre, talk to your employer/contractor/security people first... Let them know that you need to use the phone and that you've disabled the app and also replaced the back cover to hide the lens to see if this is now an acceptable use phone

More than likely they will shoot you down.... If you are lucky, Palm may build a non-cam version of the Pre to target to govt personnel, which you can see if they'll buy for you to add to your plan...
