This just means that the Pre, is a transformer, clearly it is from the future. It will undergo a hardware transformation with the 1.2 update!

I don't even have a revision letter at all, or the spot for it.

Would Pixi then be hardware revision B?

I have no idea what the hell i'm even looking at. What is the significance of this? Inquiring minds would like to know.

open up phone like your going to make a call and dial ##786# and you will see a page that you can scroll through and it tell you about your phone . nothing confusing about it.

The confusing part is there was never a spot for Hardware Revision for WebOS 1.1 and below and now there is one for 1.2 and perhaps above.

People are wondering what could this possibly mean.

that is old news. I've looked at ##786# page several times in 1.1. What I don't understand is the whole hardware revision part that 1.2 has.

okay.. the point of this is:

they have added a spot in the support screen to put a hardware revision indicator.

this might mean that they plan on releasing newer hardware revisions of the pre, which is to be expected

In the screen shot, there is a category titled "Hardware Revision". One my phone (ver 1.1), there is no such category.

The point is this is a new addition in the 1.2 software coming.

i'm not an expert but besides increasing memory, upgrading the camera or whatnot, perhaps Palm is finding out what parts fail more often and perhaps will see minor redesigns over the life of the product.

The Pixi is definitely NOT the "B" version.

This is Nothing new for Palm. Off the top of my head, I definitey owned both "A" & "B" hardware revisions of the 700p and the 755p and I THINK even the Treo 650 had A & B versions. This has been standard Palm practice for models with longer production runs.

Not sure if the Centro was differentiated between 64MB "A" models and 128MB "B" models but there's another possible example that incorporates more noticable hardware changes.

FWIW, the Sprint Rev. B 755p (purchaed in spring '08) that I briefly used had a brighter, whiter LCD, a louder earpiece, and slightly less lag when compared side-by-side with a Sprint 755p "A" with the exact same 1.07 ROM.
