    I could have sworin it was the other way around, since Sprint pays to be the official sponsor for Nascar and NFL, so they're just trying to get their money's worth out of their sponsorship dollars.

    maybe its a two way street free advertisements for sprint with nfl and nascar and vicea-versa for nfl and nascar?

    Nope definitely one way street.

    Sprint Inks $600M NFL Wireless Sponsorship Agreement

    Sprint paid $600 million. $300 million for ads $100 million for nfl.com advertising, $200 million for the rights (hence why we have that program). It's definitely not Sprint getting paid off, they figured they'd get people to switch to Sprint for NFL. Same reason DirecTV pays to keep Sunday Ticket. The subscribers it brings in is worth what they pay.
