I may have to switch banks for this one lol.

No But I only have maybe 1 deposit a month if even that so going to the ATM becomes a pain at those few times to get a check in ( Sprint Rebate) . Then when I go all Bank of America does is the same thing , the ATMs here scan a picture gives you what it thinks it is and then who knows it might shred it right there.

Many banks do this. Chase and Bank of America have options as well that are similar as we do business with both. I'm not sure just anyone can do it though and I think USAA is the only one that does it through a phone.

It has been a feature of USAA and other banks to scan your checks in and upload the scan to the Bank as a deposit. That it can be done with a camera phone is a natural extention of this policy.

I think it is great as I don't own a scanner and didn't see the need to buy one just for the few checks I deposit a year.

I just asked the online rep when I was asking about something else. I have the chat saved in my email. I'll try to dig it out and post it tomorrow.

Here is the confirmation email I got about it from Sprint. This seemed easier than going through and editing names and PINs out of the chat.

Did you just call Sprint and say that you were a USAA member and that you heard there was a discount?

    Thanks

    Here's the membership requirements:

    Are You Eligible

USAA membership is a privilege earned by those in uniform and it's a privilege that can be handed down to their children. Membership is open to:
Active duty officers and enlisted personnel.
Children whose eligible parents have or had a USAA auto or property insurance product.1
National Guard and Selected Reserve officers and enlisted personnel.
Officer candidates in commissioning programs (Academy, ROTC, OCS/OTS).
    Former military personnel:
    Retired officers and enlisted personnel.
Former officers and enlisted personnel who separated from the military on or after Jan. 1, 1996.
Former USAA members who had USAA auto or property insurance.

It used to be enlisted troops weren't eligible, but that changed in 1996.

    Cheers
    Dan
