Google voice lets you record phone calls while talking.

make sure you get permission. You can't go to jail for breaking federal and state wiretapping regulations, but the offending party can sue for a rather hefty sum.
  5. #25
yeah you really have to tell the other party that they are going to be recorded.

Until the Pre gets software for voice recording, I have still been using callrec on the treo to record lectures and it works great. Often I am not sitting next to the lecturer but across the room and it picks up well with a miked lecture and sometimes without a miked lecture.

I just installed the trial of Classic and recorded a snippet of CNN using voicememo at 44 mhz and 22 mhz. It did not seem to pick up CNN that well (the tv was less than 5 feet away) although it picked up sounds right next to the phone very well. I compared it with callrec on the treo and the treo was better, enough to actually hear and distinguish words. Additionally, callrec on the treo shows how loud the sound is when it is being recorded so one can make adjustments, either by raising volume on the phone or moving it closer to the source. Given this situation, I am sitting on the fence with regards to purchasing Classic.

Precorder in the testing feeds works great. It records voice and any sound that is streaming on the pre. http://forums.precentral.net/web-os-...nd-line-4.html

Unpack .zip and install by.ryhorburakou.recordservice_0.0.1_all.ipk and by.ryhorburakou.recordservice_0.0.1_all.ipk.html. Create directory vr. Run it. Voila.

CallRec for PalmOS recorded incomimg & outgoing calls with or without the "beep" for years.

You can record whatever you want on your phone - as to using that recording in a court - may be an issue - but the recording og the conversation is fine.

I really miss Call Rec, & Audible,
    and YourCall, and .... :-)

Where does the vr directory go? Under /media/cryptoffs or root?

Nevermind, I just put it under /media/internal Thanks
  13. #33
Hi! I am the developer of that attached Voice Recorder app
    vr must go to /media/internal/vr
I am expecting to bring the app fully functional in near future and post on PreCentral. Thanks for interest!

After downloading the file do you have to have Internals to work with it ? I see that it looks functional , opens to start a recording and stops a recording but never shows anything else?

    Am I missing something?

Prenosticator (WebOS Internals developer zsoc, who previously brought you PreCorder and gsmwav) does:

There is no longer a Precorder in Preware.

See http://forums.precentral.net/showthread.php?p=2427596 instead (or 3 posts up).

If your in one of the 12 states that require both parties to the call to be notified. All of the rest of the states only require one party to be aware (presumably the one making the recording). The big gray area in my mind is which states laws have force if the person I'm calling is in one of the 12 states but I am not?

Thirty-eight states and the District of Columbia permit individuals to record conversations to which they are a party without informing the other parties that they are doing so. These laws are referred to as “one-party consent” statutes, and as long as you are a party to the conversation, it is legal for you to record it. (Nevada also has a one-party consent statute, but the state Supreme Court has interpreted it as an all-party rule.)

Twelve states require, under most circumstances, the consent of all parties to a conversation. Those jurisdictions are California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Washington. Be aware that you will sometimes hear these referred to inaccurately as “two-party consent” laws. If there are more than two people involved in the conversation, all must consent to the taping.

I have zcorder and and VRec both on my Pre. I would prefer VRec if I can find out how to make a new path so I can view/save the recordings.

With zcorder if I understand you have to use the musicplayer or internalz to view/listen to recordings once you close the file. With Vrec they are saved in the app and one click to play what you record....That's if I'm looking at both apps correctly!!!
