I must first say I love my pre but one thing I have noticed is scratch marks. When I open my slider, it has grooves to the top right, top left of the keyboard. It also is scratched on the bottom lip where the front of the phone stops when closing the slider.... Anyone else have this problem? Sprint tried telling me this is normal...

That is NOT normal, I've had my phone almost three weeks and use my keyboard a TON... no scratches or anything for me...

I've got one minor dink on the bottom left of the keyboard lip, that I know HAD to be caused by the slider....but I'm not too concerned as of yet.

I've got scratches too. Sprint said the same thing about it being normal. Luckily, the scratches are starting to form large grooves. If everything continues as planned, I should eat through the keyboard plastic in approx 3.5 weeks Then I'll see if that's 'normal.'

Gotta love Sprint.... They are going to say that's an added feature to make the keys work better!

no scratches for me either. i've had mine for 1+ months. exchange it for another one. seems that the newer pre's have better build quality anyways.

hmmmm I didn't think it was normal.... I mean why would a phone be designed to scratch itself?

My first Pre had that problem. Got to the point that the keyboard ring was popping up on the top right and was causeing friction when working the slider. Sprint store said it wasn't a reason to exchange it (42 days in, bastards) Sprint's "account specialists" said otherwise. Bottom line no it isn't normal.

Had same thing on mine. Where do you put your thumbs when you open it?

I usually take both thumbs and place one on each side of the slider and slide up

i'm a big fan of one handed operation. i use my right hand to cradle the device in my palm and use my thumb in the middle of the screen to push up.

does your slider feel like it has a lot of tension? i feel that if i don't put everything my thumb has into pushing it up, it will slide back down or get stuck halfway up. my slider doesn't feel "slide-ish??" i also have a bad oreo problem (2-3mm each way). do you guys find that to be a common occurence with yours?

You are opening in a way that is contrary to the design intentions and putting too much pressure against the keyboard. Just use a single thumb in the middle of the screen and slide up as the manual states.

I use one hand and have the scratches along the bottom edge - no grooves or anything though.

When opening mine feels like it sticks about 1/3 of the way up. I thought I was putting too much pressure and started making sure I was simply sliding up and not pushing down and sliding up.

But that doesn't solve the problem - it still sticks a bit and scratches the bottom.

Mine is all scratched up and has big nicks and grooves along the bottom edge. It is because my slider is "too tight" and I don't use the "thumb method" to open. I use a finger on each side to open. I am going to exchange it because of the random shut down issues but this defect is unsightly. I'll try and post some pics.

I also have scratches that have formed on the bottom lip of my pre. My slider is pretty tight though, as I don't have any "oreo" effect. This is my second pre - the first had stuck pixels and was a loose slider.

I can probably live with the scratches, the tight slider makes the phone feel more solid.
