I know another thread about the pre but I have to vent some. How in the hell do you put out a product that has this many SIMPLE misses.

    1. You turn your volume all the way down but it still makes system sounds..WTF that will be getting kids in trouble at school.
    2. I cant forward a GD text message GIVE ME A BREAK!
    3. I get sent emails with links (not attachments) to pdf files, word docs etc and I cant open the link..who beta tested this crap???
    4. I cant change the sounds of emails and SMS messages...REALLY???? again WTF were they thinking.
    5. I cant select text that isn't editable..again WTF??

How did they come so far and do such a wonderful job on the OS and miss the SIMPLE STUFF???

I mean sure video would be nice but come on Palm did you use the phone for anything besides facebook, youtube and web surfing...did you try and do any WORK with it?????

Ok i feel better, oh and just fyi i'm not an iPhone fan either but I gotta say their device feels like a racecar when going through the OS compared to the PRE. Hell I picked up my Curve and it felt like a had a full size keyboard in my hands and dam did it feel FAST!!!

And for all those that will say..thats been covered...search first..blablabla... I didnt feel like it and I wanted to vent so deal...

The iPhone and Curve should be faster than the Pre at switching apps because you can only use one at a time. Oh, and don't be rude. Turn the damn phone off when you're in class.

Might want to take the time to read the manual, there is this neat little switch on the top of the Pre, RIGHT next to the power button...and what kind of kid needs a Pre in school.

Why does everyone who has a complaint about their Pre feel obligated to tell the rabid Pre fanbois here that they themselves don't lust after an iPhone? Pre fanbois tend to "eat their young" here, meaning anyone who complains about their Pre is a "turncoat", a loser, a twit, even a troll, but the one thing they are most afraid of being perceived as, is an iPhone user (past or present).

Time for the fanbois here to grow up a bit, just as the iPhone freaks need to chill if someone doesn't share their undying devotion to said phone.

    It's JUST A PHONE!!

Because they were so busy writing a kick-*** OS from scratch in a limited timeframe that they didn't have time to design, implement, and test edge features like forwarding text messages.

Actually, in theory, a Pre could be an amazing device for tracking homework assignments, remembering when tests are coming, doing research online, maybe even for taking notes if the kid has really quick thumbs. PIM data is not just a grownup thing, after all. Kids' lives are just as full, and in many cases even more hectic, than ours.

In reality, he's gonna use it during class to text his buddies, watch Youtube, look at porn, cheat on tests, etc. In other words, he's gonna do what kids do.

Haha, I graduated in 2002 and I had my first phone in my final years which was mainly for emergencies. Thankfully the texting craze hadn't started yet.

Sounds like you bought the wrong device for you.

    Why?

Here's an irony, the first one to reply mentioning the iPhone is the rabid Treo fanboi who also happens to be an AntiPre.

    Too funny!

Oh, and I agree about the need for the fanbois to "grow up a bit". Got a mirror?

One thing I'm not is a fanboi. I do enjoy pushing the kiddie's buttons here though...

Pushing kiddie's buttons, that's pretty much what the kiddies do...

I do have to admit though, there was one reply before yours that mentioned the iPhone; however he was agreeing that it was faster (so much for that "turncoat, loser, twit, or even a troll" theory, huh?).

And the irony really is funny. Keep pushing those buttons, I'm sure it makes you feel better...

Well....I must admit, the more rabid the reaction, the more fun it is. For example, the response that urged me to die a fiery death. Awesome!

And here's the biggest irony. Posting just to "push buttons" is exactly what being a troll is all about. Got that mirror handy?

It's a Pre forum for crying out loud. Stop acting like a child, and post if it's relevant news about the Pre. Why not go find a sandbox if you want to play with kiddies?

Don't feed the trolls, guys. Just ignore it. There's no actual argument to be won, just someone trying to stir things up. Let it go.

This thread has gone far enough. Lights out, all.
