So...is there a way? One of my pictures when viewed fills the screen, but when used as the wallpaper has a 1/4" black border all around.

When you choose a wallpaper, there will be a preview screen with a button on the top that just says "Set Wallpaper" on this screen you can zoom or pan the photo all you want before setting.

if you are tired of your pictures looking like this as your homescreen...

find the pic that you used, turn your phone sideway... us the ORANGE+P+SYM to save as screenshot, then use the screenshot as the wallpaper..

On the confirmation screen where the photo takes up the whole screen and you have to tap "Set Wallpaper" at the top. there you can pan and zoom before setting.
