You will never guess what just happened...

I genuinely care less now than I did when I started this thread...

I don't know if it is physically or mentally possible for me to care even less so I am not 100% ready to commit to the phrase 'I couldn't care less' just yet - but I will keep you posted.

I am not going to dump all my Palm stock because some hedge fund hack read some second hand information on an open forum either. So it's a good point to wonder why I don't care less which would lead me to infer that you think that if I did actually care less that I might stop creating inane threads. Again, great question.

Sharon, I promise I wasn't trying to come across as smug or snarky. I am also a long time investor. While I can understand the attraction to sniffing out rumors that might affect the future of Palm here on the forum, short of anything major happening, either positive or negative, the results of the Pre's release have been calculated and Palm's stock price has been adjusted accordingly. A 10% swing either way, this long after the product release, more than likely has something to do with some other Palm news then it does have anything to do with the Pre. I am not telling you anything you probably don't already know, I am just responding to your question.
Well, thanks for the clarification on the snark. Nonetheless, there is a difference between trading and investing. I'm doing both. Trading requires immediate attention to news and 10% in one month is huge. It was not Palm news that moved the stock this month, it was ALL Pre news. Look at the best investors that are highlighted and quoted in places like Barrons. What are their track records like? They're considered amazingly fantabulous (nod to our word-smithies) if they reap 20% a year in returns.

Trading means bouncing in and out of a stock making new gains each time. I'm doing this to supplement my unemployment right now. Not day-trading per se, but more like weekly trading. My IRA investment position in Palm sits there hoping some day in the future to become an Apple-like performer when Apple came back from what looked like death with the iPod.

Exactly...I hear people say "I could care less" all the time. So...it means that they do really care a little.

Edit: Sorry...should have read the entire thread before posting.

Yeah, but they don't mean that. They're attempting to say they don't care at all. It is the logical conclusion given the etymology of the phrase, Spock.

The Pre sales have lagged as of late, especially in my store. That doesn't mean its a bad device or anything and in fact in my location we've had ONE return and that was because the customer though it was 'too much' for them. I doubt it'll take off like the 3G iPhone with, what, a million sales thus far? But it still has a huge install base thus far and will only continue to grow with more aggressive advertising. I'm not hating on the other companies as it would be suicide for Palm in their situation to not capitalize on other markets, but being a Sprint employee and actually liking Sprint because I've had them as a carrier for 8+ years and worked for them for 4+ years it still sucks to lose the exclusivity if it's true.

I won my pre in a contest for the most sales and got the honor to be an advocate for the device. I pretty much tossed my HTC Touch Pro to the side, and since I've had PPCs since the 6600 on Sprint that was a huge jump for me. I feel its the more robust device though and can't wait to see the potential grow in the future as WinMo did through developers/kitchen ROMs and sites like ppcgeeks and xdadevelopers. Currently I'm waiting not so patiently for some easy to install NES or SNES emulators currently.

Marketing? I jumped on VHS when they came out with the RCA Selectavision model that had a 4 event timer and 4 hour recording capability. I think those specs turned the tide towards VHS and we consumers never gave Betamax much thought after that, even knowing it was supposedly better tech.

I've got a PhD in BS and can definitely say there's more BS in this thread than a pair of hip waders can protect me from.

I work with both PCs and Macs. Apple computers are all about the look. They break just as often and the components come from the same places PC components come from. They basically build a turd, polish it up, stick an Apple logo on it and sell it to sheep. And OSX might be superior in your opinion. And that's where it ends.

I know....but when they say "I could care less" I always say "So that means you do care a little?" and then they look at me like I'm an *****.

...should be "Could care less" is illogical.

Oh, and here's a freebie. When you're talking never say "Quote", then your bit, and then "unquote". You can't "unquote" something, you can only end the quote you used. i.e., "Quote", bit, "End Quote".

p.s. please disregard any typos and bad grammur, my English is really the badest.
