I went to my local Sprint store yesterday to take a gander at the Palm Pre. I was actually excited about having a glimpse into this new world of "all things Pre." Turns out, much to my chagrin, I couldn't find a single thing in the store with "Pre" on it. There were no Pre posters, no Pre brochures, and definitely no Pre's.

The line at the counter was 5 deep with impatient looking customers, so I figured it would probably be best not to jump in front and start asking about a phone that was clearly not in the store. I actually had to pause for a second and think, "it IS Sprint with the exclusive deal on selling the Pre correct?"

As I walked out of the store and glanced back, my bewilderment turned into bitter pill. I could only shake my head and ask, "What the heck is going on here?"

Weird. I've been to several Spring stores since launch and there are Pre posters all over the place and several demo units out on the floor for customers to play with.

Very strange indeed. Every sprint store i've been in in ATL and Athens, GA has PRE on display and most have big pre signs in the windows. I am looking foward to Aug. 6th tho cuz thats when my kiosk (Sam's Club Kiosk) gets the pre's!

    True
I was at a sprint store yesterday , its the same thing.
A "senior communication specialist" had no clue that the Pre can do multitasking.

Most Sprint Owned stores have demo's of the Pre. They have the Pre's in back. You should of been a little patient. The lines don't take that long. Some people are paying bills, or getting there phone fixed. Unless you ask someone, you have no idea if they had a Pre or not. Also, every Sprint owned store that I have gone into has a person in front greeting and taking your name, at least in my state, that is how it is done.

Was the store a Sprint owned or other retailer?

Most small sprint stores don't have Pre's yet. The two in my city and the 2 in the largest shopping area of the closest (and much much much larger) city have also not had any in stock since release. All but one of these stores says they haven't even seen a Pre in person.

You're visiting non-corporate stores, they're not top priority in receiving Pre shipments (unless you're in a very populated area), but they can order one for you if you ask. That said, most of us want to try the phone out before committing to it, and these stores will not have in store demos for a while.

I was lucky enough to walk in to mine just as they had gotten ONE Pre in for another customer, and that customer was on their way to pick it up. The guy let me play with it for a minute, but it wasn't activated, so it was basically a shiny paper-weight.

I go to school at UGA in Athens! Good to hear the sprint stores there have Pre's in stock, I planned on checking it out and maybe signing the deal once I go back to school in august.

You didn't say what part of the country you're in, or even what country for that matter. I'm sure there are some folks that will point you to a store where you can look at one, if you provide a little more information.

Just teasing. I've read too many posts today with people using 'there' for 'their' and 'to' for 'too'. The itch to correct something had built up to a compulsion.

I agree with your post completely.

I'm willing to believe this, a little bit, if it's a non-corp "Authorized Reseller." Here in VT our corp Sprint store (where I got mine) is slathered with posters and whatnot. However, the "Sprint" kiosk in a mall nearby hasn't had any materials or display regarding the Pre. I guess if this reseller didn't actually stock the Pre, there's no point in really marketing heavily if they're going to just drive customers to the Corp store a few miles away.
    Loving the Pre...

Sorry for not posting my location or more to the point, the location I happened to be in yesterday. After a bit more digging, based on the advice given here, I discovered this isn't an "official" Sprint store. In fact, the location doesn't even show up on the Sprint site.

The store, however, does have Sprint branding, Sprint signs, and logos. In fact, there is nothing that would make me think it's not a Sprint store.

The store is in Warwick, RI.

    Thanks for the help everyone.

I thought there was an app for determining if the store was an "official" Sprint store

    Correction - "Authorized Reseller"

It's like the time I went bowling with a group of people from work and one of the women asked if we would be playing with the 'big balls.' I think she meant "regulation balls."

MontyDel4, How's it going man? I live in Providence. The Kiosk in the Providence Place Mall has the Pre. But, I've found that the best place locally is the Sprint store on Pontiac Ave in Cranston near Garden City.

It's a really nice store and I believe that it's corporate.

Thanks ronlongo. I will definitely check out the Pontiac Ave shop.
