Default Lost Data (Contacts, Notes....)

I exchanged my Pre due to a screen defect. Before handing over the defective device, I went to the BackUp application and clicked "Backup Now". Contacts, calendar, etc were set to use tehh Palm Profile primarily. The Pre indicated the backup was successful. My new phone was activated and I entered my Palm Profile username and password to pull my data back into the new device.

Now for the sad part. None of my contacts, memos, e-mail settings, calendar info, and so on that the Palm Profile is supposed to back up came back on the new device. The only things that were brought forward to the new device were the few applications I downloaded. Everything else was gone. Tonight I spent a great deal of time speaking with people from Sprint and Palm who were very polite, but unable to help me.

The Pre specialists were all busy and could not help me tonight. I am expecting a call from them tomorrow to help me with this problem. Meanwhile, I have tried using the Reset Options from the Device application to erase the Pre and try to download my profile again. Still with the same result. The applications transferred, but none of my other data transfered.

Has anyone else had this problem? Has anyone else found a solution? It is very distressing to loose your data that you thought was being backed up.

Did you try to see what your default account was set to? Login in to google on your computer and check out and see if your contacts are their. Your Pre could have set Google as your default instead of your Palm Profile. Don't know if they covered this with you or not, but you might get your contacts back, if nothing else... contacts> preferences & accounts> and check your settings.

It would be nice if you could choose which things you want backed up in the backup app. Ya, the "backup" is very limited at the moment.

I don't care if my videos, music, photos don't get backed up.

Update: I stayed home waiting for the phone call from Palm support yesterday. I never received a call and no message was left on my answering machine (or caller ID) indicating I missed the call. I had backed up to the PalmProfile thinking it should work best with Palm service since it is their own system. I guess I should have used Google instead.

I still don't understand how my entire profile information and data was wiped out. I have not received even an explaination or appology from Palm. I would think Palm would be very interested in how the data was lost, can there be safeguards to allow an older version to be retreived if the profile becomes corrupt. As it is, I don't know if my information is being backed up anywhere now of if my profile is corrupt and needs to be reset somehow.
