That guide is now obsolete. You can tether without doing any proxy stuff. You still need to SSH in and run a script that you need to create, but once you run the script, you can use ANY program for internet WITHOUT doing any proxy. Check here:

Most people are not willing to "root" their phone. The reason for my post, yes I have been following the work around etc. I almost attempted a workaround with my Instinct, I just grab the Wife's BB instead.
