My changed phone background is reverted back to the original, but the call timer hack is still there.

I am notice my signal is a lot stronger now, and gettin EVDO in areas i didnt before.. That alone make the update worth it for me!

Secure shell server still running after update. Still can get root. Phone showing NO bars, even with Airave.

I dunno, I always have the wi-fi on though. Mine had 1.0.2 on it already, so this is technically the first update I've done.

I was having that problem also. I went to "Device info" and reset my phone from there. After it booted back up I checked for an update and it found the update right away.
