    Part/type of hacking, where hacker is attempting to exploit computer system/network through opened services ( ports ), and rise their access rights within that system, so they can perform intended actions. The name origins in linux systems, where if you get 'root' privileges, you can do basically anything.

    Root is the mode where you are essentially the admin on the OS and can either disable or enable or even add things to your OS. Hacker in linux terms isn't the evil hollywood style people see. It just manipulating the OS to either perform how you want it or it should be acting.

    Yeah...I think what most folks mean in a Pre context when they say that they have "rooted" the device is simply that they have found a way to connect to the device and login as the root user. The all-powerful root user:
