When my pre is closed I can gently push on the bottom right corner of the phone and the top (screen) portion of the phone can rotate indepently about +/- 2 degrees. When the slider is open this wiggle no longer occurs. I have been babying my pre since I got it, so this isn't from rough use. Is this just a normal part of the slider mechanism or is it a problem that would warrant a replacement.

(Also having the battery lose 70% just sitting on my desk for 5 hours, but am going to try a deep charge to see if this helps.) -- GPS off, email @ 30 min, AIM off, etc.

Nope, that's the first I've heard of that issue.

I have the same issue. I think its pretty common. I'm not sure that is a defect, I think its just how its made.

I noticed this for the first time yesterday.

I'm trying hard to not let it annoy me. But it is when I am using the web with it rotated,,,

My first Pre wiggled and wobbled a lot when it was closed. I had to get a replacement Pre due to a keyboard malfunction. This replacement Pre is tight and does not wobble at all. I wonder if it will start wobbling after using it for a few days but for now it is nice.

Mine wiggles, if they all do, then I wouldn't worry too much -- yet.

My wiggle just a bit but I dont think its a defect. I think its just with slider phones in general, though I havn't had a slider phone in years.

Mine wiggles just a little, but I don't think it's a defect. It's probably designed to have a little movement to absorb daily use of the slider and phone.

Mine wiggles just a very little bit. Assuming it gets no worse, it's nothing for me to complain about.

Yeah mine wiggles like half a centimeter. I went to the sprint store today and they said that it supposed to do that. ii asked to see the demo and that one did the same thing.

I first noticed a slight wiggle yesterday. It doesn't bother me much, as long as it doesn't get worse.

They are going to wiggle. It's a mechanical device that moves back and forth. As long as it doesn't loosen to a point of opening it's self, it is fine. If you have ever had a slider you know that is just part of the design. HTC makes some of the finest hardware there is and guess what? the Touch Pro will wiggle.

I had a huge deal with sprint and affiliates last week over this "wiggle".

I noticed mine two days after I purchased the phone. I thought it a little odd, so to be on the safe side I went to the sprint location where I purchased the phone (mall kiosk). After I talked to the "manager" she informed me that the phone should not do that and that it was damaged. So I ask for an exchange... she says "The phone is damaged and not in 'mint' condition and we can not do the exchange". A little flustered I asked if she was accusing me of damaging the phone she replied "Did you put in your pocket".... ummm... "Of course..". So she procedes to tell me that I need to have a sprint tech at the corporate store repair the phone.

Off to the Corporate Sprint store..I find the sale manager Sarah only to find out that the store doesnt really have a "technician" per say, but more of an "inventory specialist". So they shoot an email to the head honcho over the mall kiosk, and I, not one to just let things go when there is daylight to burn, drop my wife off at the house box up my pre and snag my reciept and drive back to the mall. The manager sees my approach a little more determined this time. I say "So they tell me they dont have a tech at the sprint store.. they have a inventory specialist.". She replies "Every Corporate Sprint should have a repair tech on site... Who did you talk to?". I inform her of the person I spoke with and she tells me flat out "NO ONE WORKS THERE BY THAT NAME.". I said "She is the sales manager of the store... I just spoke with her... Are you accusing me of lying?". "There is no sales manager or any other kind of manager named Sarah at that store.". Frustrated I challange her to call the store and ask for the Sales Manager... She does and low and behold.. its Sarah. After their conversation she tells me that the phone is broken and I need to have their tech/inventory specialist look at the phone before there is an exchange. So I somewhat lose it.. "You're telling me I that broke my phone in the two days I have had it? Because its not in mint condition you will not exchange it? Well for all intensive purposes this phone is in mint condition!! If it came out of the box just like this... then its FLAWLESS!!". She replied.. "We would have never sold you a phone like this.". "Im sorry but I dont remember your store associate put the phone through a 12 point inspection when he activated. Plus its kind of a small thing.. that most would never notice.". She calms down and informs me that she cannot do the exchange for 1) she is out of phones and 2) she needs something written buy the tech/inventory specialist to be able to RMA the phone. I ask her to put in writting on my reciept that if it came down to it and she was unable to get a phone 30 days past the purchase date, that they would honor the exchange. She agrees and I leave.

A few days later she gives me a call basically letting me know that she is working on the situation, but has not made any ground. I then ask her about the exchange policy, at this point she informs me that everything Sarah had said was wrong (BTW Sarah said she could not exchange at the corp store because it was not purchased through her but through a third party location. Meaning the corp store would basically be eating the cost of a palm pre if she did) and that they could do an exchange there, but they wouldnt because the phone was damaged. By this time.. I am just out right mad. I head back to the corp store and ask to speak with the GM or AssGM. I get to talk to Ryan the AssGM. He says he has been involved with my case and was working on a solution. After talking to him a little bit and messing with the demos I told..."Look.. the whole thing started when the chick at the mall said those two words, 'its broken'. Do you have a new pre in the box we can unpack and see if it "wiggles" too?". He agrees and we pull one fresh off the truck and unbox it......Relieved..It..."WIGGLES".

So long story short... they are made that way.
