Makes me want to cry when I think back to paying $600.00 for 16mb of RAM (yes that is not a typo...it's a M) back before window 95 came out.

I bet the Pre could play the games of that era as well (non-direct X / open GL)
We wants it, we needs it. Must have the PREcious.

We had a 32mb stick of ram (or maybe it was 64mb) ...

One of the engineers handed it to me without grounding himself to me (you touch the hand of the person you are handing the item to, while handing them the item -- that way any static goes through the hand, and not the item you are handing). A big ZAP through the stick, and the computer would not boot..

    $1300...

Although, as I'm sure everyone here knows, with data it's actually 1024 for every 3 orders of magnitude, not exactly 1000 for every 3 orders of magnitude. I'm sure it was actually just a ploy all along to make everything more complicated.

That will happen within 10 years easily man.

My first computer was in 1979/80; a TRS-80 with 4K of RAM. K man K!!!
Then my C64 in 83 and then my Amiga in 1988. I paid almost $1000 for a 80MB HD for it. ii

Man I could go on... Remember 300 baud guys????? ii

I have been in the computer field since the early 80's. I have workled with everything from punch cards, 8" floppies and reel to reel tapes to disk packs and main frames with those huge HD's.

I have seen a lot of transition and advancement over the years and I am only 44!!! ii

I started when it was 2400 baud and BBS's. Those were the days. Text based online games against other local people. Haha.
