    1. Crippled copy and past. (No web, or non editable text)

    2. No bluetooth dialup networking profile.

    3. Weak battery life. (Rumored but probably true)

    4. Poor synergy control. (Contacts)

    5. Over the network media download disabled.

None of these are deal breakers, but my Curve handles all of these features nicely with the exception of Facebook contacts (thanks anyway).
I'll be getting the Pre without a doubt, but I'm going to give it a couple of months as I expect most of these issues to be corrected and we will probably see a small price drop fairly shortly considering Sprint is exclusive only through the end of 09.

I love Blackberry, think they make very good phones... But I'm ready for something new. I've had 6 Curves already, and I'm getting tired of it. Same ol crap. Trackball, charging port, etc.

I think when Sprint can finally get some new decent Blackberries, I'll go back to try another one, but until then, I'll be happy putting my Curve in a box for a while.

So, um... Why are you bothering to post...?

If you don't want the phone then don't get it. My mother's not getting the phone either because she can barely use her simple cell phone. Should she post as well?

    Watch this.

errr.. NVM, Sorry, that didn't show what I thought it would. I thought he had a longer one, but was instructed to take them all down by Palm. IDK how this one is still up. But I'll see if I can find something for you.

You may be right. But I wouldn't be surprised to see $179 by the end of the year before Verizon and others get it.
The price is not a factor in me holding off getting it, just speculation.

In all fairness he did say his problem was with c&p web and non-editable text. Obviously the notepad will let you c&p.

I'm not too concerned as I only copy and paste from the web very rarely but it is a feature other devices have so if you use it a lot it could be annoying to lose.

Otherwise, I also agree with the lack of tethering but that ought to follow soon after release with 3rd parties already working on solutions.

Battery life is no worse than either of my past two phones from what I'm reading so no biggie there.

Synergy sounds fine to me. I look forward to just typing and having it search my contacts on the fly. No need to scroll through everything means no need to scroll through my hundreds of Gmail contacts.

Over the network media download doesn't matter to me since I either stream audio or video to my device or I copy it from my computer. I don't download media to storage on my phone now so I won't mind not being able to do it out of the box on a Pre.

I do think lack of file system browser will **** me off though. I will have to get used to that. I'm guessing there will be a 3rd party file explorer shortly after launch as well.

These aren't huge glaring problems. Just a few small weakness that would be annoying enough to make me want to wait and see them resolved. If they were never resolved I would still get it at some point.

But why not get the phone, and keep it.. and just live with it. You know they'll roll out updates like mad within the first several months of release.

hey, just wondering, what do you normally use the file browser for. I have FileZ on my Centro and rarely use it. Thanks.

You can always forward the link to your e-mail via the Pre browser and copy/past on your computer. Not exactly mobile friendly, but it will get the job done until an update fixes this.

My work and google calendar and contacts are sync'ed / synergized OTA between my work desktop, my Curve, and my home laptop. I could also sync my Facebook calendar if I decided to turn it on. So yeah, it does have pretty great synergy.

To go one step further, the Blackberry version of facebook "synergy" allows you to add facebook information to existing contacts only. A far better solution to the "synergy" mess on the Pre.
