I'd like to upgrade 2, possibly 3 lines to Pre. I understand though they want to serve as many customers as possible before running out. What do you think?

For my sake, I sure hope they limit to 1 per customer. I want one, and there would be nothing worse than to have the guy in front of me buy three or four, leaving me with none. At least have the courtesy to bring multiple people to stand in line if you want multiple Pres.

I'm going to Sprint store today to ask this very question. I want 3 phones and will camp out for them, but will they let me? I'm switching to Sprint from Verizon. If I can't get all the 3 phones at once, will they loan me some until I can get the others? Anyway, I'll let you know what I hear from the Sprint store.

I'm with jgb - there would be nothing worse than going to pick up a Pre, only to have someone further up the queue take every device they've got going.

Still, if stocks are as low as rumours suggest, I can't see them not putting a limit of one per customer for the initial release.

Well its not like i'll use 3 phones at once. Obviously, they're intended for the users of those lines. Common sense says, bring those users with me to store if possible. Just inconvenient for me.

Yeah, sorry for those of you who legitimately want more than one, but there's too many ebay investors for them not to IMO. I certainly hope they limit it.

I'm guessing that this will be the individual store managers call. Even if "Sprint" does/dont place a limit on the amount of Pre's that can be purchased. Im sure the manager can "pull rank" and make the decision either way. I cant imagine a store having hundreds of people camped out, only to let the first 5-10 people buy there entire stock (exaggeration, but you get my drift?).

Right. Three people in front of me, three pres, then that's just my tough luck. Whether they're all on the same account or not is just a matter of coincidence.

i remember when the iPhone came out they were also short on stock and they limited one per line/person. i would think if your getting 3 lines you can get 3 phones, stock permitted of course.

I just talked to "Hot Katie" as I would now like to refer to her...she is the lead retail consultant. She said that she has not been told of any limits but that it is subject to change. She gave me her card and told me to email her a few days before to see if they have imposed any limits. So it's another "wait and see" from Sprint, like everything else!

Every line is considered a "customer", not just the account. If you're upgrading or getting new lines, you're fine. If you're a single person wanting to buy "$100,000 worth of iPhones.." err, I mean Pre's, than that might pose a problem.

My sprint store told me they are happy to sell me as many pre's as I have lines.

I agree with what everyone is saying that it will be per line. It would make no sense if you went in and started up a contract with four lines of service but were only able to get one phone.

I spoke with a store manager after speaking with a retail consultant and they said they would be limiting to one per person not necessarily one per account.

Yeah, the optimal thing to do would be one per line, not customer.

Sounds like my Church's food ministry...

We have donations every week, but get little meat products.
So, we have a separate "meat line" where only one member of a family is allowed to go through and pick one item. Then they can circle around to the back of the line and pick up a second item once every family has one. They keep circling for more items, one at a time, 'til the items are gone. It is hard to tell if they are obeying the "one-per-family" rule, but if Sprint did something similar, they could catch them when trying to activate more than one on a family plan.

If we didn't do this, families would grab every item and leave nothing for others. Sorry, it is unfortunately human nature.
    "Everybody Palm!"

Palm III/IIIC, Palm Vx, Verizon: Treo 650, Centro, Pre+.
Leo killed my future Pre 3 & Opal, dagnabitt!
Should I buy a Handspring Visor instead?
Got a Pre2! "It eats iPhones for Breakfast"!

Oh noes!!! QQ!!! Who would have thought first come first serve could be so cruel?

"Everyone should get one" is an extremely socialist attitude. Give me a break.
Why not just show up early and be first in line?....
If the phone is really worth it to you, you'll have one on launch day.

Oh, my fault. What I meant was one per line, not account. I agree.

2 lines on my account will have the Pre - but they're for my husband and I and he will be there in line with me. I'm thinking that they'll let you buy as many Pre's as you have lines for...but to be safe you should get someone/anyone to stand with you in line so you're not turned away.

No harm Jonathan, I figured you had simply mis-typed as you said you agreed with the previous posters, but then gave the opposing view. Haha = )
