    The "App Catalog Crippled" thread points out a gaping hole in the user manual. It says that when you go to purchase an app, you're taken to the vendor's site. The first thing that comes to mind is that every vendor will be implementing transactions separately and likely differently. This probably would put Palm at a huge disadvantage relative to the Apple App Store -- a pain in the tush for consumers and developers alike.

    So perhaps the secret ingredient is in what happens when you go to purchase an app? It would have to be something that consumers and developers both would love more than the App Store way. As things stand, this appears to be a bit of an Achilles heel in the Pre ecosystem.

    Very well could be. It hasn't been speculated in the blogs because frankly I think everyone expected it to be more like Apple's system not Windows Mobile. So very well could be the surprise.

    Not sure if they will get much of a reaction out of it though as I believe most users would prefer / expect an Apple style system, minus the draconian approval process.

    Maybe they'll announce there's also going to be a 16 gig model for $100 more. I'd sure pay it.

    My money is on a "deeper" SDK, which will allow 3D games and better hardware controls.

    My guess is that the youtube app will also function as a youporn app...

    BTW, is Engadget the only place to watch it today or are others going to be broadcasting it?

    iPhone emulation. Ha ha! Combined with iTunes sync, Pre would eat the iPhone.

    (Please don't respond with how impossible this feat would be. That's no fun.)

    Maybe their gonna different colors!!!!! lol.. Actually I doubt it. But here's another idea that I think is more of a possibility. Maybe they are going announce that the Pre will come in 2 different materials to choose from. One being the glossy finish and the other being the matte finish. BGR's pics look like the pre they have is matte in the front. I've never seen any other pictures of the Pre like this.

    BGR's review was sloppy, so I assume the same for the pictures.

    OT: Bing? Seriously? All I can think of when I hear that is Chandler Bing from Friends. Not exactly a search engine sort of image in my mind.
    Palm III-->Handspring Visor-->Sony Clie PEG-NR70-->no PDA -->Palm Treo 755p-->Palm Pre-->HP Veer
