The 12% larger is not correct. It is bigger than that. Comparing diagonal size vs area isn't the same. I could care less about the diagonal size...its all about area. A 12% increase in diagonal size from the Pre to the iPhone is gonna be close to a 25% increase in area...pretty significant in my book. You will definitely feel it when web browsing.

I have an Instinct S30 and I have an iPod Touch. While the iPod screen is inarguably bigger and diagonal size does amplify the difference somewhat, either screen is nice to web browse on. If you can see an extra row of icons or a bit more text on the iPhone, great. Between the 3.1-3.2-inch device feeling better in the hand and in the pocket, and the gesture area and hardware keyboard saving me screen real estate, I will take the Pre form factor.

Owning an Instinct S30 has only reinforced my feelings on this. And it's actually a pretty decent little device, contrary to popular opinion.

That's cool. I never loaded more than 8GB of straight music on my iPod Touch 16GB. My wife uses it way more than I do these days (and she mostly uses it for Pandora). 32GB is meaningless to me. While we use it on road trips, we also use Sprint Nav or take the crazy step of turning the music off and talking to each other. The only time I listen to music for more than an hour straight is if I am at work, and then I listen off my laptop.

None, until they launch on a GSM network. Which wont be till prob 01/2010 here in the US. Hopefully sooner somewhere else in the world

The number Sprint uses, as recently as today when making an unrelated announcement is "11,000 retail locations."
If 1/3 is held for telesales that makes about 22 units per outlet on average.

In a weird money making scheme, Apple might actually try to sell the device to people other than you or your wife. These people might actually want and need more space. I am using about 14 gig of space on my iPhone between music, apps, pictures, videos, and documents.

I guess you missed the part where I bought the Apple product that had way more storage than I needed, eh?

Wow...you seem really cranky. I said nothing of the kind and have gone out of my way to be civil to you here. I'll head to another thread so that doesn't change.

I can tell you that you definitely wont be able to stream it using Sling (over 3G).

Do people realize that storage is more than just music? How about photos, videos, ebooks, etc.?

I'm not one of them, but there are some people who have their whole life story in photos on their phones. I myself load up on videos sometimes. Plus I'm always adding new stuff and I like to switch around. 32GB would be real nice for me.
HP has officially ruined it's own platform and kicked webOS loyalists and early TouchPad adopters to the curb. You think after you drop it like a hot potato and mention it made no money and is costing you money, anyone else wants it??? Way to go HP!!

And some people are fools to keep believing their hype. HP has shown they will throw webOS under the bus and people are still having faith in them??? News flash: if it's own company won't stand behind it, it's finished!

Dont forget OS. Pre users will not have the entire 8gig for use.

It's also never the full amount posted since companies use 1000MB instead of 1024, but the computer uses 1024.

Agreed. People get too caught up in their own minimal music usage and forget that this thing is supposed to be the center of your digital life. Music, Movies, pictures, documents, kindle books (hopefully), applications, games etc. 7.4gb is going to feel cramped pretty quickly.

Personally, I have decided to forgo non Pandora music playback on the Pre to preserve both battery life and space. I picked up a new iPod a few days ago and while I dont think that is a good solution I know that complaining on the internet about non upgradable memory is an even worse one, so I caved and went back to 2 devices.

Cloud based storage will overcome any onboard memory limitations.
