the battery issue Hmmmmmm
I bet my 200 dollars with anyone here, the battery is going to suck.
Be prepared to buy third party from Siedio or Mugen.

And this will be a GEM provided it works as designed

"If you begin chatting with someone on Facebook and they close down their laptop, the Pre will automatically switch your conversation over to a mobile instant messenger client and reconnect with the person on their cellphone to keep the conversation going."

I would be glad if it would go 2 days between charging. I now can get that from my Centro with normal use.

I doubt it would go for two days.
I will be happy if it goes for a day with couple of email accounts.

You are correct. I guess they want to also add a GSM network to their existing CDMA network from the looks of it:

This guy kris, was only speculating the battery life wouldn't be good, since he hasn't really spent that much time with the phone, let along really use the keyboard.

I'm sure Palm is trying to optimize the battery usage even up to this moment before they give official numbers.

Saying they are still tweaking it for best battery life kind of goes against Pres sitting in warehouses, already flashed with final software.... doesn't it?

It could be part of the first firmware update.

The battery comment was pure speculation. The CPU has advanced power management capabilities and who knows what power the other components use. We will have to wait and see. (You can give your $200 to charity when it doesn't.)

Bell Canada and Telus are building an HSPA network, as a stepping stone to the LTE 4G networks. The network will be HSPA only though.

But after past experiences dealing with Sympatico DSL, I don't think I want Bell as my provider. I'll wait for a proper GSM version to run on Fido, hope the Telstra August rumour is true.
