    I hadn't seen the sideways profile pic before.

    There appear to be two reasons for the peculiar shape: 1) the circular sliding motion between the top and bottom halves and 2) space required for the raised keys.

    And, over here, in India, it is more common to call it "visiting card" than "business card" or "calling card", though from the wikipedia entries, I see that they are all distinct and have different purposes.
