Ok, so I haven't watched every single Pre video out there *gasp*, but I have seen quite a few so far. I'm curious though about two specific things and since Dieter and many others have gotten quite a few demos already, I'm wondering if we have specific information about these things. For one, how do you unlock the screen? Is it similar to the iphone where you drag a little bar from left to right? Also, I password protect my 755p all the time cause sometimes I just have it sitting around at work and don't want people getting into it. Is there a way to type in a password, or can you draw some kind of gesture on the screen to unlock it without popping out the keyboard every time?

Been wondering about this stuff for some time, would love to hear if there's info out there about it!

There is a video from the spain show showing unlock out there. It's moving something from bottom to top.

I haven't seen anything on that but I'm sure they would have an option to have a passcode to unlock. Be pretty dumb not to have that, its a great feature on the Treo.

Its not only a funtion on the treo, but on practically every phone out there. All of my dumbphones have had the ability to lock code them, as have my friends blackberrys and my current Instinct. I would be extremely surprised if this practically standard feature was not included.

Do you have a youtube link perchance? I don't think I saw that one - or if I did I di not notice the unlock.

I agree, I'm sure they'll have it, but I'm just hoping they don't make you open the keyboard to unlock it. Maybe they'll have some ability to draw a gesture on the screen, or swipe in a certain secret way to unlock it.

having to slide open the keyboard to put in a pass code might be adding an extra layer of security.

some thief that's never seen one before: "how do i put in the code?!?! there are no buttons!!!!"

How about a gesture to unlock. Make a line that goes all over

nice thanks! It would be really awesome if I could draw a letter on the screen and it would unlock in that way. If you don't know the specific gesture then you can't unlock it.

Sounds like Android. It is more annoying then you would think to do that.

I am sure a developer could step and provide the option if there is demand though.

That's pretty cool. I know i saw that a long time ago, but I'm wondering how well it works.

On separate note, I wonder if they'll implement more app specific security. One thing I've always wanted on my 755p is the ability to only lock out SMS/email. I really hope they do that on the Pre or at least some third party add-on will allow it to do that.

I'd be interested in folder-level security, so I could have easy access to non-sensitive stuff, but carry confidential info in a controlled way. Best would be folder-level encryption, but at least provide a software lockout so that applications can't access a folder without a password/passgesture.
